Reacon
Gah! I've had the s**ttiest day. I wake up with 3 hours of sleep to find my mom is yelling at be about a boot BSoD claiming that Winsvr.dll somehow got corrupted. I reinstall Windows XP, big deal. Unfortunatly, the copy I have happens to be torrented. I just do what I normally do, pop in the install disk and have it detect my current XP install. I use the pirated key because its the only one that works with that copy...I don't know why. Once I get it fully booted, I ignore the annoying piece of crap software called "Genuine Advantage", I find a XP key changer, and...well... change the key to whats located on the bottom of my laptop. It worked the last 10 or so times, I don't see a reason as to why it says my goddamn serial is invalid when I try to put it in via key changer OR the activate Windows wizard. I even went over it quite a few times to make sure I didn't mistake anything. Could it be that WGA is preventing me from actually verifying that I OWN my own copy? Of course, there is a problem with this theory; currently I am using a WGA bypass to keep it from annoying me, so that nasty process WGAtray.exe is not running. I have very few processes running as always, all of which I know exactly what they are. But what could possibly make my key invalid. The scripts from microsoft detect that my key is invalid when I know as a complete fact that IT IS VALID. Oh, I wish I could call Microsoft about this, but I'm afraid if I tell them I downloaded a pirated copy, Ill have the cops down my driveway in minutes. What a nice way to spend christmas... Sorry for my ranting but I'm kind of ****ed I have to deal with this.
thealexweb
Some people tell Microsoft they bought it of the market and they give them benefit of the dough. I'm not advising you to lie though because would be stealing.
