Valve New Year Sale on NOW!

Recommended Posts

Don't know what you crazy people are paying ?5 pounds for bioshock for, I got it for ?3.50. Just remember tax is included in the price now. No need to add 17.5% (or the 15% it is now).

I'm thinking I might finally pick up fallout as its sold out absolutely everywhere online.

It's a lot more expensive for people using the ? though. They just changed the $ sign to a ? sign on most :pmes. :p

Are Europeans getting charged for Peggle Extreme? Because it's listed as free for me.

Damn, is there some region thing going on with the Steam store? Beause I can't find Bioshock from my place (malaysia). Damn. My current PC wont be able to run it, but I was thinking of getting a new rig some time next year, and $5 for Bioshock is a steal.

I must say that even after the discount, Steam's prices are still a rip off. Take Call of duty: World at war:

Steam: 44.99

Newegg.com: 46.99(w/ free shipping)

I dunno about you but I would rather pay $2 more and get a box/actual media. The game should be like $35 to be a value. :p

Or how about Call of Duty Modern Warfare:

Steam: 37.49

Newegg.com(free shipping or digital download): 37.99

Doesnt mean I dont like steam(since I did buy Bioshock earlier) but I think they need to readjust there prices.

They do have some odd prices. Commander Keen for $4.99, an ancient DOS game? That should be one of their 99 cent titles, though I suppose the publisher probably has some say in the matter. I also noticed the Doom pack costs more right now than the complete Id Pack, which is crazy. I really only buy Valve games on Steam though, since I have to use it for them anyway.

Well I just got the unreal deal pack (wanted to get ut3 for a while now, and 4 more games for an additional $10 seems fine with me). And I'm planning to get the "dawn of war everything pack" when I get paid :)

What a great time to run out of money ehh?

If only I had just 10$ right now...I would have my entertainment for the month :)

$10 is almost nothing, how can you not have it? Collect some cans or something.

That is in the US. Here's in Europe:

COD: World at War

Steam: 63.25$

Sendit (free shipping for UK, only 3-4$ for rest of Europe): 54.81$

(yes, there are other retailers, but I haven't checked their pricing yet)

We are getting ripped off in both cases, but getting it from Sendit is much better than getting it from Steam.

But any retailer is going to have some prices that aren't lower than their competitors. It seems pretty silly to say the prices in general suck by cherry picking a few titles where they cost more and saying the prices across the board are poor.

There certainly are titles there that are over priced, in Aus I feel the Call of Duty series has long been one of those titles but theres still alot there that is well priced too. It's just like every retailer where you should shop around and not just expect them always to be the lowest.

This sale of theirs encouraged me to order a few games. Never played Bioshock before, but after finding out that the activation limit has been uncapped and seeing a price tag of $5, I just couldn't resist.
