Nvidia Geforce 7150m 4GB DDR2 Ram 320GB Hard Drive Atheros AR5007 802.11 b/g how big should i make the swap partition for ubuntu if any at all ? kyro Posted December 28, 2008 Share Posted December 28, 2008 older times , rule of the thumb use to be swap is double the real space in mem-stick. but you seem to got plenty of it, and if you dont see yourself running out of all the ram by doing usual task (and not photo editing/video editing massive files ) then even 4 gb (i.e equal to your ram) will suffice. It is using a little under 5MB. Set up something. It doesn't need to be an awful lot. 500MB may be overkill. Or it may be perfect. It depends a lot on your particular install in usage habits (video editing, lots of GIMP stuff, Firefox, all use up memory).
