Grand Maester
I PM'd a supervisor who had seemed to be taking responsibility for the FAQ of late back on the first of the month about this, but I haven't heard back and I'm guessing he hasn't had a chance to make any of the changes, so I thought I'd post them here in the hopes that some other staffer will make them. I want to suggest a few additions to the staff directory (Section 8 of the FAQ): I recently ran across a post by The_Decryptor with a brown neowin badge that said Chat Moderator. I didn't really know what that meant because that category isn't listed in the FAQ (I PM'ed him and he explained it to me), so I think that position should be listed in Section 8 along with all the others. While the positions of Editor-in-chief and Managing Editor are listed, no description is included (it just says "comming soon"), since there are people now in those positions, I think a description should be added. The designations of MVC and Veteran aren't described anywhere that I know of except in conversation on threads. While I know they aren't technically staff, I think descriptions of them should be added because Veterans are former staffers and MVCs are selected by the staff. At any rate, they aren't described anywhere else and I think they should be described somewhere, because I have run accross questions regarding those positions on a number of occasions. I know there is a separate FAQ about Subscribers, but that isn't included in the guidelines for this forum. Even if it was, I would think that at least passing mention should be made in the general FAQ since I found the subscriber FAQ only because I looked in the subscriber forum out of curiosity. Ideally I think Subscribers should be briefly described and a link to the subscriber FAQ should be included. Also I think it would be more effective to also post the FAQ and all the other links in the guidelines section for this forum as pinned items at the top of the forum, I only noticed them in the guidelines box when they were pointed out to me. I know that might make the pinned section quite long so this might not be a great idea but I thought I'd put it out there. While I'm on the FAQ, there is one minor error that I'll pass on. Section 4 goes right from 4f to 4h (both in the table of contents and in the body of the FAQ). For whatever it's worth.
