Opinions On This Graphics Card?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm thinking of buying this card tomorrow and just want to know if anyone's had any experiences with it and what games it would run. The card is Nvidia GeForce 7300 GS 256MB PCI-E. Here's my comp specs:

Intel Pentium Dual Core 3.00GHz

2GB Ram

Windows Vista/7

Thanks

Well it says I have two 3.00GHz processors so I'm assuming so? :p Yeah I did some reading there, but I'm not expecting like top end graphics just something that is playable but doesnt look too bad, any suggestions for a good but cheap card, a little low on money so just want something to hold me up. Thanks heaps

That card is worthless. Do yourself a favor, and grab something like the 8600 GT (There's one on Newegg that's $40 AR), or there's a 9500 GT for $34.99 AR.

The 7300 is good for running older games on lower resolutions and lower details. On today's games, you're going to want something more. If you want to play the latest games with medium details, and a decent resolution, grab either an ATI card like the 4670 (cheapest one is $61 AR), or the 4830, or Nvidia 8600/9600GT.

What's your budget?

yes ,since ages ago

it is intel E2xxx series

There were dual core Pentium 4 that even predate the e2xxx chips, they were called Pentium D. Basically two Netburst P4's stuck on one die.

Anyway, yeah TC the 7300 is pretty crappy, it was an entry level card three generations or so ago, you won't be playing anything new with it unless you like slide shows with alll of the detail turned down.

Let us know your budget and we can recommend your best option.

Well I have a 1Gb 9600GT n my other machine which is supposed to be VERY similiar to the 8600Gt

I reccomend you purchase one, you won't be dissapointed

I could play crysis on high with it.

(but now im in love with mai 4870)

Hmm I might just do that It looks pretty good from what I've seen so far, apparently you can run all directx 9 games at full settings and DX10 at around medium? Any experiences with this anyone?

The 9600GT is overall a much better performer than the 8600GT.

Whats the 8600GT like?

i play l4d on it at 1680x1050 can play on high settings (4xaa) but gets a little laggy and plays around 20fps

with no aa its fairly playable but i sometimes like to turn all the settings to low (except resolution) and play on that which yields around 30-40 fps however my pc is fairly cpu limited for the game and no doubt the card will perform better on a faster processor

i'm currently using a P4 3.2GHz

kinda off topic/related: wow just noticed nvidia has released their 2 new cards gtx 285 and gtx 295 they look very nice :D (on their site :p)

What? At 2 FPS maybe.

No idea where you read that. The 8600 GT is a mid-to-low range card and will run the latest games at low to medium detail at an average resolution and with no AA/AF.

i currently am playing far cry 2 with Dx10 settings enabled everything turned on tot he max well 1 maby 2 set to high but the rest to the max with no AA @ 1024x768 and am averaging 24 to 35FPS using the WDDM 1.1 preview drivers on 8600GTS on windows vista with the latest nvidia drivers i was averaging with same settings but some things on medium 18 to 32FPS so in windows 7 preview drivers in windows 7 /7000 on a 3800x2 @2ghz with 2gb of DDR2@667mhz so i do seem to have some performance increases i also see them in Fall out 3 .

I can play Crysis on high settings 1280x1024 no AA quite well on a 9600GT 512mb, FPS around 20-35

Can someone with similar specifications verify this for me please...?

I can play Crysis at more that 30fps most of the time at 1680x1050 with a 8800GT (which is a little better than a 9600GT, but not by much), a C2D E6420 @ 3.2GHz and 4GB of DDR2 800. It's not impossible and it's quite realist that a 9600GT push that.
