Crysis+4870X2+Core i7 = Pathetic framerate

Recommended Posts

I've just upgraded my PC from a Core 2 Duo E6850/4GB RAM to the one listed in my signature below. I reformatted, put Vista on, updated everything, loaded a few games to see if framerate had improved and so far, yes, it's been great (UT3 is perfect)... apart from Crysis, which actually seems worse.

I'm currently on the section called "Awakening" which is just before you meet the aliens and oh my god, it's pathetic. I can turn everything down the low and still get poor to average framerates with occasional stuttering, surely a computer like mine can handle Crysis on minimal settings?

I run in 1920x1200 resolution with no AA, aniostropic at 16x, forced through the Catalyst control panel. I'm running the latest drivers for everything and no overclock.

Is anybody else playing Crysis with a similar spec to mine, is your performance as bad?

Something is wrong, running Crysis at 1920x1200 myself with an X6800, 4870X2 and 4 Gigs of Ram under Vista ( 64 Bit ) and getting high, consistent frame-rates. And let's be honest, the i7 blows the ageing X6800 away.

I've read somewhere in the Neowin hardware forums that the new i7 are better in every way, except for gaming performance. There were quite a few people saying that they didn't notice any difference at all after upgrading or getting the new PC.

Crysis can bring even top-end machines to their knees, and if you're not careful, it can even kill you.

HAHAHA

Man that sucks. Its EA Crysis sucks on my pc also. The is not even that fun so I would toss it. I know that is not good advice but that's all I can give.

Do you have the latest patch? If your having issues with everything set to low it reeks of a game issue or a driver issue. Have you tried switching to DX9 mode and seeing if that runs the same?

I play at 1920x1080 (comp is hooked to my 42" samsung LCD), at all high settings with AA turned off. I only have a E8400, OC'ed to 3.6, a 9800 GTX+ running slightly OC'ed speeds, and 4 gig of Corsair ram, nothing special timing wise, pretty much value brand memory. I still get a solid 24FPS and except for the very last part of the game I had a few framerate issues and two crashes to the desktop.

Typhon, if your rig has problems running crysis...then you have some issues you need to work out. As for the game not being fun, are you kidding? It's one of the better FPS'es out there and even when your not running it at extreme everything settings it still looks better than most of the competitors.
