Far Cry 2 and Nausea

Recommended Posts

I play a lot of PC games but for some reasons every time I play Far Cry 2 I get nauseous. This has never happened to me before and I assume it has something to do with Far Cry 2. Has this happened to anyone else before and does anyone know what I can do to change this?

Update to the latest patch if your using a widescreen monitor and resolution. The AR was an issue and caused this issue.

No, just the patch should fix it 1.0 (unpatched) was causing the problems for me 1.02 fixed it.

Weird. I have the game patched to the latest patch and I'm still experiencing issues.

I had a similar experience with the air boat leve in Half Life 2, to this day I have to break that level in to a couple play sessions or I'm woozy for the rest of the day.

if all else is failing you can try the Farcry 2 FOV hack/fix, but I think that only works with vanilla 1.0 As I mentioned above I had no issues after patch 1.02 (I stopped playing because of the nausea effect) and reinstalled after I realised there were patches out.

I tend to be fine nausea wise except for sprinting. When I'm sprinting I begin to get nauseous.

Not sure if this thread is for real or not - but having a fps near 60 or below will do it...

Hmmmm.... I know I'm definitely not getting over 60 fps is FC2 becuase it's a pretty graphics intense game so maybe there's my problem.

the reason you get nauseous is because, when your character sprints, the screen gets tilted a little to the right and left and as your character gets tired, you get that effect where it gets all blurry and zooms back out

i always get disoriented when that happened to me(not really nauseous) , the only solution i can think of is, put a lamp near the monitor such that it diffuses light all over your keyboard and keep the monitor around 4 feet away from your keyboard. i dont kno why the lamp method worked, but it reduced the disorientation for me

This happens to me when I play CoD4. Strangely it only happens after an hourish of playing multiplayer only. Not single player. I've never experienced it in any other game.

I doubt it's just the sprinting but how the entire game is designed. The fact EVERY motion is done in game from getting in and out of cars, opening maps, opening doors ect. Most games your view remains relatively static but FC2's jumps and moves around like no tomorrow. I'd say it's largely why so many people get sick in HL2's water level too as the screen is constantly bumping about and you can't focus on anything.
