CrimsonRedMk Member Posted January 3, 2009 Member Share Posted January 3, 2009 I've looked pretty much everywhere and have Googled at least 20 different things but can't find an answer. In Ubuntu, right before GDM starts, there is an orange screen: how do I change it to black? I've made a simple Youtube video of exactly what I'm talking about since I might not be expressing it correctly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBipJvcwbC0 The orange screen in question is visible from 0:21 to 0:32. Can someone please help me?
BuzzSaw
System --> Administration --> Login Window [Login Window Preferences] Go to Local Tab and click Background Color box. Color name: #000000 (Black) Let me know if that works.
Lechio
Yap, running "sudo gdmsetup" and changing the color there should take care of it. Also, to remove the annoying Ubuntu boot progress bar edit the file "/boot/grub/menu.lst" and remove the splash option from the kernel entry. It's a good idea to be doing this as it allows to see what is going on while it boots, services starting, etc. While you are at it add the option "vga=???" replacing "???" with the appropriate number so that the tty's have a better working resolution. See the appropriate numbering here.
