+John Teacake MVC Posted January 4, 2009 MVC Share Posted January 4, 2009 I got my old man an XBOX 360 a year ago (For last Christmas) Yesterday the screen kept just going black when he tried to play on-line. Eventually it RROD'd DOH!! :( Anyway I'm in the UK and I am aware that Microsoft fix it for you? What is the procedure for this? And is it free? The one year warranty from the shop will have JUST run out :(. Many Thanks for your Help.
Jeremy Kyle
MS offer a 3 year warranty on the RROD. Call them up. This is the reason I won't buy one. They are still unreliable.
Numpad
just ring up their customer support helpline m8 and they will talk u thru getting it ready to be repaired. it should be covered under the extended 3 year warrenty so will be free.

Plus, if you are persistant and ask to go through to a manager you can voice your complaints and perhpas get some freebies (i got myself a free wireless controller when it happened to me!) Hierophant
I thought they wrapped up this problem with the latest generation of Xboxes.
Vandalsquad
I thought they wrapped up this problem with the latest generation of Xboxes. They have, the console in question was bought over a year ago and probly on the shelves in stock for 6 months before that. We dont need a thread everytime this happens but its getting tiresome. Use the search feature.
ozgeek
Mine: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=T_xCVOoiVvo And it's still working. So you people must have done things to your 360's for it not to work.

I've tried contacting support many times via the site and they always just direct me to the phone anyway despite clear instructions that I would prefer not to given it was hard to call in the operating hours at the time. Sometimes they will give a case number to try and speed the process up but when I eventually called the guy on the phone always wanted me to redo any tests. So yeah, I'd just call. PiracyX
I did it online and brought a box and contacted UPS to pickup it up on selected day. Turnaround was about 12 days for me which wasn't too bad.

George P Global Moderator Posted January 6, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted January 6, 2009 The new Jaspers should be the end of the RROD. Some Falcons still have them but it's nowhere near the monsterus 33% everyone was talking about at the start. The talk was about it being under 10% at first, now I think it's down to 3% at the most. It should be wrapped up with this new revision. But you also have to keep in mind that the 3 RRoD are a general fault error, you could say it's always the GPU, but it could be something else in many cases. Pierce28
Mine recently started RRODing, but only with 1 ring... I've had it for 1.5 years, so its out of warranty, and being a poor college student, I don't have the $100 to get it fixed, so I've been towel tricking it for the time being so I can watch Netflix on it... I'm praying it will soon 3 ring, but if not...

arcadefx
My XBOX 360 just did the RROD. :( It's the 20gb original version. Not sure if it's covered by warranty. I am looking at the 60gb version (w/ two games) to replace it if needed.

OtRaS
mine went last month, I registered it all online on the Thursday, recieved a confirmation e-mail, then a further one with a shipping label the next day. I took it into UPS rather than wait on collection, It arrived in Germany by the Tuesday, on Thursday I received another message saying it was on route back, I had it by six o'clock the following Monday. It was originally manufactured on Sep 07, this one came back Nov 08, No HDMI though which is something I was hoping for, they also gave me one month live membership. BTW: you will get several e-mails saying they still dont have your console, even when you get it back, I would go by UPS tracking rather than what Xbox.com tells you. Lingwo
My third 360 has finally given up on life. Not a bloody RROD though. I got the four lights error. Usually that means no video cable is attached. So i tried a new cable in it and still get it. So because i didn't get the bloody RROD, i have to pay ?55 to have it repaired.
