Pompeius
So I bought COH and installed, went through the patch installation process. At the install it rated my system as being 'great' in all areas. My system is no monster but it does OK for a lot of games. It has: Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4 ghz 3 gb RAM Nvidia 8600M GS (I know this is the weak point, but it does more graphically intensive games like COD4/5 just fine) Even on the very lowest settings, the framerate is still barely at 20, and at the default settings it hovers between 5 and 10 fps. I have the latest drivers from NVIDIA, and it was with the original HP drivers too. What gives?
Melfster
I have found those system requirements measurements are more often then not meaningless . I have COH its great game but does use require a fairly good GPU to run well and I don't think 8600M cuts it to run well.
Sethos
Yeah, CoH requires quite a beefy computer to run.
StealMySoda
I manage to get it run with very decent FPS on a 1.83ghz c2d and a 8400m GS. I do have to turn the settings down a lot but the only time I notice is during cut scenes as from high in the sky, the low res textures, look like high quality ones anyway. Try turning bloom off, and running in dx9 mode as well. The shaders and shadows are the biggest performance hitters.
Pompeius
Thanks for the tips. I'll try it sometime, though I fear it won't make a huge diff
