how do you install .src.rpm files in redhat 9 ???? the install apps thing doesnt support them

from console,

rpm -ivh name.src.rpm

however, .src are the source rpms and I think you can use rpmbuild or rpm --rebuild to make rpms from them.

Yup, rpm --rebuild usually works. It will write a binary rpm for you. When its done, it will tell you where it wrote the rpm.
