I've heard romours of this for a while, but here is a solid announcement of what Kodu is:

Xbox 360? players become creators with the release of Microsoft's new game, Kodu. Launching on the Xbox LIVE? Community Games Channel, Kodu has easy-to-use game creation techniques that make building personal playgrounds simple for anyone, with the help of an Xbox 360 controller.

During a keynote speech at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, 12-year-old student, Sparrow joined Microsoft's President of the Entertainment and Devices Division, Robbie Bach on stage to demonstrate the intuitive game that lets players choose from a variety of visual building blocks in order to develop their own unique creation.

The thing i find interesting, is the Games you create can be played online, and even be released on the Community Games Channel.

Lol. Tbh, looking at it though, it looks like a very simple way of teaching coding, or the thought process behind it to kids.

Looking at that, it says to me:

When

Player Sees Tree

Move Forward

When

Player Touches/Bumps fruit

Go to page 2

(Reminds me of the old days:

10

Print SEX

20

Goto 10)

So what is this thing EXACTLY :s

A game in which you make games?

LBP like?

I THINK though, the games can be released to run without this. It is just a friendly ways of creating them.

He also said they ca be released into the Community Games Channel. (I wonder if they can be sold?)

looks like LBP...

but Microsoft needed something like that, to take attention away from Sony

The only attention Sony seems to be getting as of late is the kind MS doesn't want to steal :p

In the case of LBP, it has been getting rave reviews, but it still doesn't seem to have reached a great deal of people. I don't think it's something MS would have to be worried about.

This game seems interesting, though I'll have to see more of it before I decide if I want to actually check it out.

People seem to have missed the point. It's about a 12 year old able to make levels and customise the actual in-game options very easily. Regardless if she was 12, retarded or maybe a bit nervous, she did a good job, and kudos to her for going up to an audience of loads of tech heads in one of this years biggest conventions.

Why would you call your child Sparrow?

Might be a nickname, after all, she is 12, parents might not of wanted her name to be given out.

If that was the case then yeah, I'd definetly imagine it's a Fable 2 reference to the name given to the character as a kid.
