Kralik
Hi, I'm guessing every game/software that is compatible with Vista will run under the final version of Windows 7.. but what about BETA? I want to install it but am afraid my games won't be compatible with it.. Has anyone tried gaming under Windows 7 BETA? How is it? Which games worked/didn't work? and hows the performance compared to Vista?

+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted January 8, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted January 8, 2009 TF2 works under 7. Same goes for Trackmania Nations Forever, with one small issue: It triggers a UAC prompt at launch for whatever reason.

Dashel
No major differences from Vista, performance might be a hair lower but I'll put that on the drivers.

-Hiroshi-
I've come to find that anything that works in Vista works in 7, with the exception of punkbuster, but their installation is extremely shady anyway.

Ayepecks
Crysis: Warhead works after downloading directx_nov2008_redist, but the drivers make it somewhat sluggish (still playable, just slightly slower than Vista).
DarkyDan
I tried TF2 and Call of Cthulu. TF2 seemed a smidgen faster under Win7 even with the drivers only being a preview release (x900xt radeon)

+InsaneNutter MVC Posted January 14, 2009 MVC Share Posted January 14, 2009 Unreal Tournament 2004 randomly crashes for me and refuses to load up a lot of the time, installing the latest Direct X updated helped but its still very unstable for me. Not tested anything else on Windows 7.
jamesclarke555
Left 4 Dead works fine but Bioshock would crash on launching in build 6801, in the beta it works but I get no sound in game
S11Tech
WoW works fine - even better then in vista i find! I'm battling with COD: WorldAtWar... game runs superb in Win 7 (So does Win 7 by the way), but the sound will suddenly become quite hollow. Using Creative Audigy 2 and their latest (July 2008 Vista) drivers. Same problem with Win 7's included drivers .....
