Fish
I have an old Dell laptop. I have always been pleasantly surprised by how well Linux works on it. Wireless has never been a problem, the extra funtion keys work out of the box, I plug in an external monitor and can span my desktop quite easily. I feel kind of spoilt that I haven't really had the trial by fire that other laptop users have had :D

roadgeek9
When Fedora 5 came out around the time I got my current laptop (mid/late 2005), it recognized everything perfectly. So I would think that you wouldn't have any problems.

DomZ
I use a dell laptop. Inspiron 6400. Mine has intel graphics and an intel wireless. Intel have open source drivers for most of their hardware on linux so you can't really go wrong with a laptop with intel based stuff in it. pyther
I have a Dell Vostro 1000 as far as I can tell everything works expect suspend-2-ram. However this could be due to the wireless module (broadcom) or the newest kernel as it was working before.
