Peer Guardian on Windows 7 x64?

Recommended Posts

Has anybody gotten this working? It worked fine on the x86 version, but I can't get it working on the x64 version. I'm trying to run the RC1 beta for Vista, and I made sure to follow the instructions for getting it working in Vista x64, but those didn't help either.

Thanks!

I assume you get an error about pgfilter.sys when attempting to run PG2, see attachment.

The problem is the Driver Signature Enforcement Policy. You have two options to resolve this:

1. Press f8 (note you will have to do this every time you want PG 2 to run) before windows 7 boot and choose Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.

or

2. Disable UAC | reboot | download DSEO 1.2 (should be the first link on Google) | patch C:\Program Files\PeerGuardian2\pgfilter.sys with the tool and set the system to test mode, with the tool | then reboot.

The above worked for me on my x64 install of Windows 7. Hope this helps.

Is there any way you could explain in a little more detail exactly how you were able to permanently disable the Diver Signature Enforcement. Your explanation seemed simple enough except i'm slightly new to all this so I didn't know what some of your abbreviations meant. I would appreciate any help in the matter.

Google DSEO 1.2. Download it, use it to put your system into Test mode (this will disable the driver signing requirement), then use it to patch the pgfilter.sys file. Reboot and you're good to go.

I will try this in a little bit to see if it works. Works with Vista 64.

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click Command Prompt -> Run as administrator.

Copy the following exactly (without quotes): "bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS". Right click on the title bar, go to Edit -> Paste. Make sure what was pasted is correct, then hit enter to execute the command.

Reboot the machine

Now the first time you load PeerGuardian you will see a message like the below. If you performed the above steps correctly, it is safe to ignore this. You can make sure by turning on Show Allowed under settings, and making sure an IP scrolls by when you visit a website.

Ok this doesn't work for me.

" A new possible fix to Vista and W7 is listed here, a small number of people have reported success with this change. However, I will keep the loader posted for those who might still have issues. (Or are like me and are paranoid about giving third party apps and system processes control over my ****, especially something as important as PG2.) "

I tried that on Vista x64, didn't work.
