Skiver Veteran Posted January 10, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 10, 2009 Hi Guys, Just looking for some advice on getting one of the guitar hero style games, i know there are quite a few around at the moment. just wondering which is the best game with a good variety of tracks and good downloads? I think guitar hero 3 is the latest in the series but i have also seen world tour or something like that, also i have seen rock band advertised. Also i saw a bundle with the guitar, drums and mic. I'm not really into singing so was wondering if there was just a guitar and drum bundle anywhere? I at least want the guitar so if anyone knows a good bundle on the best in the series would be good (in the uk) Thanks in advance!
Drew
I recently bought guitar hero world tour for my brother for his wii (just the guitar & game bundle) from Argos and it was ?48, I think it was the same price on the other consoles, and the DLC is getting better as the weeks go on for it, plus on GH3 on my mates Xbox there is a massive selection of songs available (which I assume is available on the other consoles but I'm only quoting my own experience with them.):))
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted January 10, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 10, 2009 You really need to decide yourself which one has the "better" track list because it'll vary on your music taste. Rock Band has the most DLC available (but not all of it is good). Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour are the newest games, and they are both pretty similar for the best part. Guitar Hero has a song creation tool which you can use to also upload songs / download songs.
Skiver Veteran Posted January 10, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted January 10, 2009 Well i was looking at World Tour and it had more songs that i recognise from the track list but wasnt sure what the DLC is like. I'll probably be buying this tomorrow so any other comments before tomorrow morning would be appreciated!
MightyJordan
The DLC for Guitar Hero World Tour isn't that good, to be honest. At least with Rock Band, you get new tracks every Tuesday. For GHWT, it's pretty random. When it comes to on-disc songs, in my case, GHWT has more songs that I know, but RB2 has more songs that I love. And personally, I think the gameplay is better in RB2 now. It's been ruined in GHWT. The hammer-on/pull-off system is too strict now, and in RB2, they finally eased it off a bit, so it's almost perfect.

I like guitar hero 3 more couldnt stand the layout of guitar hero world tour in gh3 the songs where organized in the new one the list is just mashed together with nothing dividing it and its not anywhere near as hard as gh3( couldnt play hard in either really only medium but medium on world tour felt like easy on guitar hero 3)

Then you can buy the other games as solus disks which are like ?30 odd.
Browno
Personally, Go To HMV, Buy The Game + Guitar at a Bargain ?35 and Buy World Tour Seperately:))
JoeC
Personally, I'd take GH3 over WT, especially for the guitar - I've had 2 unplayable guitars which I had to take back to the store, and the one I have now still isn't totally right. Skiver Veteran Posted January 12, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted January 12, 2009 NOOOO I forgot to check this in the morning and bought World Tour! DrunknMunky Veteran Posted January 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 12, 2009 There's nothing wrong with WT, you made a good purchase (Y) It's a current game so you won't be short of people to play hopefully and all DLC will be for WT, not GH3. Just pick up Rock Band and the others solus later (Y)
CactuzJak
while i generally like to play guitar hero more ive kind of switched to rock band just because of the massive catalogue of songs, rb1 and rb2 songs playable in rb2 plus all the dlc i got.. is nice
MagicMan
I bought GH3 : Legends of Rock from HMV on Boxing Day for ?35. Rudy
can you buy just the instruments by themselves?
MightyJordan
can you buy just the instruments by themselves? Not the GHWT ones, no. They don't sell them seperately for some bizarre reason, and that's a real git, because those are the better instruments.
MagicMan
can you buy just the instruments by themselves? I know you can get the drums on their own and you can with the guitar but they do invariably come bundled with a game. In fact when I looked into buying a 2nd controller, it was cheaper to buy Legends Of Rock again with the guitar for ?35 than to buy a seperate guitar at ?4:D:D Havent done it.............ye:p:p
Skiver Veteran Posted January 13, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted January 13, 2009 just a quick note regarding World Tour. Is there a way to switch off the game update thing for new content? It seems to randomly pick a stage after i have been playing for a while. Last night it decided to do it hafter playing the gig and getting to the encore, and in doing so it didnt recognise the fact i had completed the Gig and i had to start the gig again basically!
