StiKs
I went to microsoft and redownloaded build 7000 and reinstalled, after getting to the desktop the first thing I tried was pinning something and it worked. After this I assumed it was ok to begin installing updates and programs. Next I knew it wasn't working. Not only did I install updates and programs but I also used the XP registry tweak that allows you to remove those shortcut arrows from icons on the desktop. Well after thinking it was nvidia or a windows update, trial and error of removing one by one. It turns out this XP tweak messes with the taskbar so I removed the tweak and back to normal pinning now works again.

I know many people do but I'm just wondering why. I always thought of Show Desktop as an extra step, and now with the SuperBar all those could be pinned on the taskbar. kache
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/01/17/f...r-in-windows-7/ Little problem: where do I find the missing registry key( I deleted it... )? Congrats.Question: Why do keep application shortcuts on the desktop? I know many people do but I'm just wondering why. Agree for the application shortcuts, but I do keep some shortcuts to the most important folders in my HD's. And is extremely handy to have them on desktop. Eric Veteran Posted January 19, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 19, 2009 Some icons pin and some don't. Computer icon pins, Control Panel icon will not, VLC player will pin, Firefox will pin, task bar will not pin Thunderbird, Opera pins, Ccleaner pins, Spywareblaster pins. Wonder why some do not. I dpn't see why Computer will pin and Control Panel will not. I just pinned the CP to the taskbar fine. Launch CP, right-click and select "Pin to taskbar". Quillz
I'd recommend a CLEAN install of build 7100 (RC1). You said you're still using the beta, which is long outdated.
