Somewhatoranother
So today I was using Windows 7 like normal when my power went out, then immediately back on. On reboot, I noticed that everything was very slow and then things started freezing. Upon checking the process manager I saw that Audiodg.exe was using between 90-100% of my CPU at all times. I have rebooted, disabled the audio driver, tried to stop the process, tried to go to Sound from the control panel (doesn't do anything), tried to get to that Sounds menu by right clicking the little speaker (Still nothing), tried to get to that menu in safe mode (Somehow doesn't exist in safe mode?), and tried to kill everything that uses sound. Nothing worked. I heard of this problem in Vista but I can't fix it the way suggested because I cannot get to the sounds menu. I'm at my wits end about now and could really use some help, it doesn't even let me shut down correctly. Thanks in advance!

IsaacD
This is not the best solution I'm going to hand you, but it does work fine, it's just a pain in the butt to do it on each reboot: Boot into Safemode Startmenu, and type in "Services" and Select Services. Once loaded, find "Windows Audio" and "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder", for both, set it to "Manual" (And stop the services if they're running). Upon rebooting back into normal mode, you'll have to go back to "Services" and select those 2 Services and "Start" them, you will have to do this on each reboot. This is a current problem for me, and it started happening after I installed some Nvidia Drivers, it doesn't bother me that much (hence can't be bothered to find a solution), but what I set out will work. Warboy
Yea I get the same issue, 75% on my Core i7. That's hard core. But that's only when I look at the Input tab of my sound devices.

Would it not be easier just to create a .bat file in the Startup folder? net start Audiosrv net start AudioEndpointBuilder

slinky333
I remember having this issue on build 7000 after installing the kaspersky technical preview for win 7, audiodg.exe using 100% cpu and couldn't get any sound to play at all. Uninstaledl kaspersky and problem gone, never bothered to try the newer version or on the newer windows 7 builds.
