Xerxes
Well at least the game is getting patched in a timely manner, unlike other EA games *cough* NFS Undercover *cough*. I've got Mirror's Edge on PS3 and I love it :) I've considered picking it up on PC, as the PC version looks considerably better thanks to PhysX (I saw the PhysX trailer the other day and I was very impressed) however, not sure my graphics card and/or CPU will cope with PhysX enabled, as it will sap a fair bit of extra computer power to do (I'd imagine). PhysX is nice and all but seems no more then a gimmick to be honest, unless you got a top of the line card or have an SLI setup (where you can dedicate one GPU to physics processing) it seems a waste :/ There is nothing wrong with the non PhysX enabled versions of the game, sure it isn't as dynamic and impressive looking but it hardly detracts from the gameplay :)
trag3dy
Well you do know the new nVidia cards have dedicated PhysX support right? I'm playing this on a q6600 and a GTX 260 Superclocked and it looks absolutely awesome. However if I had not watched that demonstration/comparison I wouldn't have really known about the PhysX in the game. I do agree that it is a gimmick. Yeah I know, but it's only software support from what I understand (using Cuda I believe?) unless the high end GPUs have a dedicated PhysX chip? I wouldn't know. I have a 1st gen GTX 260 and an E6700 but I have my doubts about whether Mirror's Edge would run well with PhysX enabled. It runs most games I throw at it very well but considering it's driving a 24" monitor (I try to run games at native resolution whenever possible) PhysX might be too much for it. trag3dy
It's supposed to have a PhysX chip on it. From what I can tell there's little to no performance impact. Things that actually use the physx don't show up that often in games. You'll notice it most when you're being shot at and glass is shattering and cloth items are tearing. I'll try playing with it off today and see what it's like. Edit: Also when I installed the game PhysX was enabled by default.
Srugie Veteran Posted January 18, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 18, 2009 EA releasing patches quickly? Never heard of that before.

Ya when I have physx enabled in Mirror's Edge it runs smoothly on my ati 4850 X2, but when the glass starts shattering, my fps drops and the game is all laggy. :/ I liked the game a lot, but its incredibly short, I think I finished it in five hours or less. I can run this at a fairly decent rez on my laptop ( Centrino 2 ?.4 Ghz with 4 Gigs @1280x720 with all textures maxed with my mighty 9600M GT) and I've yet to experience any slowdown. Praised be the Unreal Engine 3:))
StealMySoda
I couldn't get my 360 controller to work with Mirrors Edge. It wasn't detecting the controller for some reason :( I've been having the same issue recently although not with ME. I generally have to end up closing the game. Disconnecting the controller. Reconnecting, then restarting the game. Seems to work 95% of the time.
chrispinto
I didn't get it for PS3 because I don't think it was worth the pricetag - PC version is cheaper. I may have just got lucky, but i got it for ?24.99, from Blockbuster, brand new (sealed) on the 19th of November in Hamworthy, Dorset
trag3dy
So I tried playing with the PhysX turned off and the game honestly doesn't seem to perform any better to me. On another note I also couldn't get my Logitech rumblepad 2 to work with the game. I gave up and have been using mouse and keyboard and it seems to work just great. Symbiotic Hat
Has this been addressed for the steam users yet? When I have Physx enabled I'm still getting lots of trouble.
