Isn't it ironic that they're packing Live subscriptions with a game that is barely playable online?

For some apparently while others are enjoying the great experience. It had issues initially, but is almost perfect now.

The farce that was the matchmaking system seems to be fixed, but the game is still riddled with glitches and exploits.

It's not even fun to play.

You mean it's still not fixed?

I gave up waiting..

Bloody hell epic, pull your finger out your ass!

Tried it with a friend earlier this week, got into one game from 40 minutes of constant searching :@

and it booted us out near the end (N)

Sure that is the number of stereotype about online for Gears. In 10 matches, this last weekend, one person used the shotgun/shield glitch and our team still won. Everybody sent him cheating feedback and then we continued having fun.

You seriously waited for 40 minutes? If it takes longer than 2 minutes, cancel matchmaking and restart.

Everybody always seems to have some many negatives about the online, but my friends and I must apparently be magic or something because we are enjoying it thoroughly.

Yeah, I really wanted to give the online a try this time as the first one did not impress at all, but it would take forever to get into a game, which ended up not being very fun in my opinon.

I really think Brad has much better things to do than to lie to all of us. I'll take his word what he said happened, actually did happen (Y)

Yes, seriously. We spent 5 minutes waiting before switching game type. Tried wingman multiple times which I thought would have worked due to having just me and my friend searching which already makes one team.

Execution, guardian, etc.. No luck. Eventually wingman worked and booted my friend out near the end.

Surely having to restart to make it work is already signs of an issue?

Not that I've played it online personally mind you but the general consensus seems to be that it is a flawed experience but still one thats terrific rather fun when you get a game going.

To be honest Battlefield Bad Company online seemed flawed in many ways too imho and it was still probably the best time I had with a 360 game. Sometimes the flaws just don't kill the experience for everyone.

It had some pretty annoying design choices which were mistaken for networking flaws. i.e the game auto balances at the beginning/end of matches, and the squads would be split up.

At least you could always connect to a match though, and I never really cared if I was split from NW members.

To be honest I have no idea why they scrapped they old matchmaking system, which was, in my opinion the best matchmaking system around (Y)

You could browse for available games, go in and wait in a lobby choosing your team while waiting for others to drop into the game. Bloody brilliant!

I never said he lied to anybody. I'm just saying that is unfortunate and never has happened to me. Overall, my experience has been great. I just try to share that information when people (some who have never even played) tirelessly bash the game.

What are your thoughts on bringing back the old matchmaking system to Gears 2?

I played a limited amount of Gears 1 because I got tired of suicide shotgun runs so I probably shouldn't comment on the matchmaking system.
