Neowins recent posts on main page script?


Question

I was wondernig if anyone knew how I could post the recent posts on my forum like neowin doses on my main page. Only im usen vbulletin not invision board. Please help me! Thanks ahead of time.

i'm wondering the same thing about my portal.... it doesnt want to work..

i'm using PHPBB by the way, someone want to help me out?

It's all dependant on your forum software. Neowin uses a custom script to display the most recent posts. If you check out http://vbulletin.org or PHPbb's hacking sites, you'll probably find what you're looking for, quite easily. It's a popular request :)

Is it possible to use the same code as neowin uses on their "Recent Forum Posts" on the frontpage so long as and comments/credits are left in the actual coding?

i donno much about this stuff but say your using a vbulletin, look at the recentpost.php (donno the correct filename) and look at the php. you will have to rip it apart but its worth a try

My new site is running Invision Board and I wanted to be able to do this, so I contacted Timdorr, he informed me their is a file in the Invision Package called ssi.php that will put posts on your homepage, I actually used a modded version of this script from the Invision Board Mod Site, but that worked for me.

I'm sure other Boards would include a similar file or a mod to include posts on your homepage.

But as I say if your using Invision Board then ssi.php is the way to go. :happy:
