Yeah, I haven't seen the same kind of theme frenzy around Vista as I saw around XP. It took at least a year until Vista themes started to move beyond Aero with a few tweaks...

Well, one of the reasons for that could be that vista looked quite good by default and not as many ppl felt the need to make new themes/smth. While XP with luna was just ugly as hell. At least I didnt feel like looking for more Vista themes.

A good portion of that is probably because Vista was (and is) vastly unpopular, obviously especially so with theme creators.

"Vastly" is quite an exaggeration, and surely a large part is due to the far better looks in Vista. Much more professional and it would take a fair bit of time to replicate that quality in a theme (unlike for XP).
