Halo ODST takes stealth approach

Recommended Posts

I can believe that if you did a couple of the shortcuts like jumping from the cliff in Silent Cartographer (or using the warthog to get through the door) and snatched a banshee on the snow bridge in Attack on the Control Room. All of those could nock a good 40 minutes off the game. There are also some others I am not aware of. Bungie also said the closest thing to the actual Halo canon is actually the Heroic setting, which definitely packs more than 6 hours.

Actually, I am not wrong since I did over-estimate.

"First of all, while Halo 3: Recon did originate with the goal of building a 3 to 5 hour campaign experience..." And they did say at one point the game would not cost the same as Halo 3, since it is an addition to the game and not a complete "stand alone" title.

Sorry, my mistake.

How the hell would Heroic be more canon, the story is the same. And it is 6 hours on Normal without skipping anything. The game isn't that hard. Yes, it's longer on harder difficulties. If you read the rest of my article that you quoted you'd see that the guy says it's going to end up much longer than 3-5 hours.

You really think gameplay will be longer than 4-6? All these game devs give a certain time but we all know it's BS and takes a shorter amount of time to play it. I'm looking forward to this a lot but this is from Bungie. I doubt it will last very long. They are just trying to hype it.

I think that, considering it is a Halo game, and that Bungie has made 3 Halo games in the past, they probably have a pretty good grasp on how long it's going to be.

Feet first into Hell indeed. I really like tactical shooters when the tactial part isn't taken overly seriously... but whatever it is, I know Bungie will deliver.

As for the first Halo, I did it in ~8 hours on Normal one day when there was so precious little else to do. Shaving off two hours by running like a madman isn't a huge stretch.

$30 to 40 for about 6 hours of game play.

Uh...no thanks.

List of full price games i completed in less than 6 hours:

Halo 1

Halo 2

Halo 3

Cod 2

Cod 4

Gears 1

Probably more, i just forget.

I'm a bit disappointed that ODST will run on the Halo 3 engine. I was hoping they would use something much more fluid and crisper but I'm still loving these details just from the game itself.

I guess it won't really matter anyway.

Well running it on the Halo 3 engine will allow more time to actually make the game, instead of spending development time on the engine.

Yeah that's true which is why I'm not entirely disappointed. I'm sure Bungie will do something fantastic with the looks of the game. I mean Halo 3 was a bit weird; using 620p with triple frame buffer.

No, I didn't mean Halo 3. I can beat Halo 1 on normal in just under 6 hours.

lol i can finish Halo CE in under 2 hours at most. So much of the game is skippable.

FYI: ODST will run the Halo 3 multiplayer. Changing the engine almost certainly wouldn't have allowed the two to be compatible.

Awesome, what I'm wondering is on ODST will there be an online mode (not co-op, matchmaking). Or is it solely campaign and co-op campaign?

Oh wait, I think I just totally mid-read your post. Are you saying that ODST has the halo 3 multiplayer built into it, and if so will you be able to play people on Halo 3 from ODST?

ODST runs Halo 3's multiplayer. It also has campaign and co-op campaign (which can also be played online).

And, yes, you will be able to play people who are playing Halo 3 with ODST. That's what they've said in previews, at least :)
