+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 20, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted January 20, 2009 Looks pretty good, considering this game is obviously going to be made in mind with making it run on as many PCs as possible.

Eric Veteran Posted January 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 20, 2009 Looks cool, but so did Spore before it came out. EA has GOT to do something better about the way they handle expansions for Sims 3. The Sims 2 method of having separate executables and install folders for each one was horrible. Sethos
You can't honestly say that you don't sometimes enjoy spending 3 hours trying to make your house and family? Haha, I do. Actually, I sometimes stock up on crisps and fizzy drinks, then have 12-15 hour The Sims marathons ... But shhh, that's my little secret.
Axel
Looks okay I guess - a tad dissapointed at the simplicity of the graphics, a little more realism wouldn't go a miss seeing how far computers have come. But then again, I don't play the sims as it doesn't interest me - it is however one of the games my girlfriend enjoys playing and she's not exactly the "wow I need to supe up my PC for this game" type! _dandy_
To be honest, I'm underwhelmed by the graphics. It's not all that far removed from TS2, which came out in what...2005? I've always maintained that The Sims (1 and 2)'s performance bottleneck comes from wasting CPU cycles on stupid insignificant AI stuff that most people would ever notice. I mean, in normal "play" mode, everything crawls (made even worse when playing in fast/fastest modes). Pause the game, move the camera around, and the redraw is smooth as glass. What does that tell you...? I really hope they've done something (serious, that is) to address this in TS3.

I remember I got the first one and almost all the expansion packs. Same here, hoping this one works out good. Graphic wise, I compared some screens from Sims 2 and Sims 3 (on IGN) and the models have improved, number of things on screen, and everything had some incremental level of detail improved. I can't fully comment as I didn't play Sims 2, but definitely a jump over the original. :p
Kirkburn
I don't think they're really aiming for Crysis style graphics: that's just not the style of The Sims.
Caleo Global Moderator Posted January 20, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted January 20, 2009 Everyone knows The Sims is only so popular because you can make lesbians. I wonder how many expansion packs will be released for this one.. Sims 1 had like 7 packs, sims 2 has around 20.. Who wants to bet there will be at least 30 in the end for sims 3? Yes, all those young female gamers, all making lesbians. :p People like playing god, and like social stuff. Expansion packs aren't a bad thing, so long as they're well made and worth the money. ikonizer
The Sims 3 will only be awesome if they finally have full on hardcore sex scenes in it. Double bonus points if you can select the actions in bed too.
