Beau Bridges
Okay, so my Windows completely crashed the other day and then I remembered I have a Ubuntu Install CD. So I installed Ubuntu and to my surprise I can not cannot connect to my wireless network in my house. It worked fine on Windows but on Ubuntu I can not connect. How come? I have Atheros 802.11 b/g wireless-LAN inside of the laptop. The laptop model is a Toshiba L305-S5902. Keep in mind that I am new to Ubuntu. So simple steps in order to fix this problem would be pretty nice.

Elv13
Do you see the network? If yes, it is caused by the poor quality ath5k driver, the old madwifi driver (discontinued) worked better. I don't know if your chip is supported in the svn trunck branch (it is probably not in the stable branch), but it alwyas gave me better signal and connection success rate than ath5k/9k. Ath5k/9k is young, but is the real driver made my atheros, not a reverse ingereered one liek madwifi. But after all, it may work better in the future, but not right now. Syanide
I just hate wireless support in Linux, the only thing that really stops me from using it more
