I was wondering about the same thing.

When I put an transparent png image into a html document, the transparent areas turns into lightgrey. Is there a special "png code" to insert into the IMG tag or what ?

Thanks in advance

You seem to be experiencing the joy of Internet Explorer. Unlike many other, standard complaint browsers (Opera, Mozilla, Konqueror), Internet Explorer does not display PNG files correctly. It maims the transparency, then laughs at your plight. There are some 'hacks' or 'work arounds' for this issue at A List Apart -- you might look into it. Of course, you could switch browsers.... ;)

IE doesn't support high colour PNGs with Alpha transparency properly.

The only PNG transparency you'll get in IE is the equivalent to old school 256 colour GIF with a single palette colour set to transparency. And in most cases that looks like crap.

Mozilla shows your image perfectly.

It's a simple fix, but MS fails to address it. ;)
