Gotenks98
I just wanted to know if it is worth doing or not. Currently I have netflix and will be getting an elite soon when I buy my new tv. Are the quality of the movies good? how long does it take to download a film? I currently have a 6mb dsl connection, will it be enough? Can you set multiple movies to download overnight so you dont have to wait for them to download?
bob_c_b
I'm on 6mb DSL and it works great, pulled the 720p tream of Vantage Point the other night as a test and it works great. If you already have Netflix it's a no brainer to do it. You don't download the whole movie in one chunk it streams, so you can start watching about 45 seconds after the Netflix app starts. metal_dragen Veteran Posted January 28, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 28, 2009 I've got mine setup as well - on 6Mb cable, and it works just fine, quality is really good. You don't download the movies though, it works just like it does on a PC - it streams.
Defiantly
Same here, works great. VERY worth it.
magik
Works excellently! I've been watching Heroes in HD the past couple months. :D
LunarFalcon
I've been using this a lot over the past couple of months, and it works great! I love how you can watch a lot of TV shows in HD, but I hope the the movie selection increases over time, especially new releases.
troGGers
I use my Xbox more for Netflix HD than I do for gaming now. It's phenomenal. I'm on a 4MB DSL connection and it runs just fine. With 6MB, there should be no issues. I love how you can watch a lot of TV shows in HD, but I hope the the movie selection increases over time, especially new releases. Agreed...I found I've watched a ton of shows I always wanted to, but never cared to download (The Office, 30 Rock, etc). The movie selection is awful if you want new content, though good for movies that are older.
DanManIt
How is the selection overall? And how about for HD content?
Hell-In-A-Handbasket
i have it, but i just add tons of crap into my instant queue, and usally leave it in there. untill netflix allows the 360 to browse their catalog, my instant queue will be big, lol but as far as quality, its good, on 6mb cable, and its same quality as the 360 video service, the HD content same as the 360 HD video's
metal_dragen Veteran Posted January 30, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 30, 2009 How is the selection overall? And how about for HD content? Can't speak to HD as I don't have an HD display, but as far as the selection - most of what is available on instant as far as movies is "classics", independent films, arthouse-type stuff, documentaries, stand-up comedy, etc. There's really nothing as far as new releases in the instant section. However, there are a lot of TV shows available as well, so if you've been meaning to catch up on The Office, or something, there's a lot of that available. BajiRav
It works pretty well for me. Most content is somewhat not what I want. Also it refused to do HD streaming on my 5Mbps FiOS line for some reason (didn't check their requirements).

Dirk
The only problem is that there isn't any surround sound, but other than that it is terrific.
Defiantly
Love the old Steven Seagal, Vann Dammm and classic A-Team, Knight rider, MacGuyver and Airwolf epps as well. They have EVERY episode. Brings back allot of memories. :-)
Qumahlin
HD selection is slowly improving, only issue is the HD detector is flaky so even on my fios line I sometimes have to cancel and hit play again a few times to get it to register that my connection is fast enough for HD. bob_c_b
It works pretty well for me. Most content is somewhat not what I want. Also it refused to do HD streaming on my 5Mbps FiOS line for some reason (didn't check their requirements). Requirement is only 3Mbps, sadly as someone else mentioned, getting their detection tool to recognize the right speed all the time is inconsistent. Gotenks98
I finally got this up and running. I am impressed with the quality of the movies. I am just a little underwhelmed by the selection. Its mostly older stuff that I have either seen before or stuff thats too lame that I wouldnt look at anyways. I hope they start to add newer movies. Steffan
Its worth it. I wish it they would allow you to browse the catalog from xbox. The neat thing is I can watch movies that I haven't seen in years. I spent a day watching Spaceballs, 21, and Superbad.
