How to change color of an image to match 2nd

Question

OK, I have both Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro newest versions so instructions on either would be fine. I do prefer PSP though over PhotoShop though so if you can, I would prefer help with that program since I am more familiar with it.

Basically, what I am trying to do is we have a company logo. It is in a wierd shade of blue and I want to basically change the colors of the logo to match a dark green color. I have the #html color code of the wierd blue shade which is #008073 as well the the RGB colors and the Hue/Sat/Lightness numbers for the color. Now the logo is real simple. Its just that wierd blue background in a rectanglular box shape with rounded corners and a line around it and white text inside of it. I want the text to stay white but I want the wierd blue color to be changed to match a green color with an HTML color code of #007300. I am sure that this is pretty simple to do and I have tried to colorize it already but that never seems to be able to match the green color correctly. Can anyone help or can I provide some more info to help you understand what I am trying to do?

Thx in advance

Do you just want to see the logo that I want to change the colors on?

kleenoil.png

Now, the real logo is much bigger than this. I just saved it as a .png and scaled down so you can see it here. You can see what I am trying to do though. Basically, I want to swap out the wierd turquoise color for the dark green shade I specified in the initial post. Now, I really don't just want you to make these changes. I need to know how to do this myself if you can run me how to do it.

The Cntrl+U option works fine in that it allows you to play with the sliders but it will not allow me to perfectly match to another color. I can 'eyeball' it and get close but I want a way to exactly match another color. Anyone else have any suggestions?

you mean like this?

Just use a flood fill (the paint can in PSP) over the colors you want to replace. You can select the color with the html number you gave, etc..

Ya, that works fine in Photoshop but not quite as well in PSP. Maybe I need to just learn up with Photoshop and make the jump over to it at this point. I have been meaning to do this for a few years but you know how it is when you are comfortable with one program. Thanks for the tip.

just open up photoshop then open up the page that has the color on it in a browser, then right click the task bar and "tile horazontaly" then click the eye dropper tool. and click it on the color you want on the browser, then "fill" in.

Well, let me explain further. If you do both steps in PS and in PSP, and then zoom way in on the image down to the pixels in both images, you will see that in the PSP image, it colors in the main part of it really well but when you get to the part with the alias'ed colors, they are still the turquoise blue where in PS they have all been colored in.

If the old color is pixels with different colors - then just adjust your fill settings to fill those pixels too. You can adjust the tool to do exactly what you want.

neowhen: because it's anti aliased

and as for PSP vs photoshop, i've always used photoshop, i briefly used PSP and didn't care for it. i've always read/heard that photoshop is more powerful anyway. and i've been using photoshop for about 4 years now, and i can tell you it's wonderful!
