It?s not going away, and it sounds as though you?re about to hear an awful lot more about it. Newly formed Scottish developer Ruffian is most certainly working on a new Crackdown game, says ?rumour? today, and apparently it?s scheduled for the end of 2009 or early 2010.

The project?s being called ?Crackdown 1.5″ in the UK trade, and it?s set in the same city as the original Realtime Worlds 360 classic. Multiplayer?s going to play a massive part in the game, aparently, moreso than the new single-player stuff.

Just a hunch: you might hear more about this? tomorrow. Life on the edge, and all that.

Realtime Worlds put out a statement at the end of December saying the firm was in ongoing negotiations with Microsoft about continuing the franchise as a reaction to rumour that Ruffian had picked up a second game.

Awesome news, but WTF @ calling your game "Crackdown 1.5" from a marketing perspective.

Do they want to get heat from gamers saying they're putting in no effort or something?

Lets be honest G.R.A.W. 2 was really G.R.A.W. 1.5 and Rainbow Six:Vegas 2 was really Rainbow Six:Vegas 1.5! Little or no improvements just a set of new maps and a minor facelift with a new/extended story.

Mind you G.R.A.W. 2 was amazing! I played both the first one and the second one the other day for about 8 hours lol. I can't wait for the new Ghost Recon.

But back on topic, Crackdown was an amazing game it was brilliant fun! and I don't see why the sequel[half sequel] should be any different!

All they need to do is add variety to the missions (first and foremost imo) and improve the multiplayer modes and it'll be a hit (Y)

Hell yeah!

Totally loved the first Crackdown :)
