Xbox in the Top Social Brands of 2008

Recommended Posts

Ad Age posted an article about The Most Social Brands of 2008. Xbox (#5) was in good company, along with the iPhone (#1) and CNN (#2.) But if you read the the complete list you may see a few surprises (Sears? social? really?) Are any of your favorite brands missing from that list? Do any others surprise you?

Edit: The product director for this survey stopped by to post his response to some of the comments

The Xbox guys definitely deserved this.

That is really cool and great for Microsoft. In just two generations they have become very mainstream. Instead of people referring to playing video consoles and thinking synonymously Playstation, they have definitely broken down some walls.

Good going, but how the **** is the Wii not on that list?

Quote I found on that page:

Mina, the Wii rolls up under Nintendo?s score. Given its popularity, we plan to break it out as its own brand (separate from Nintendo) on future versions of the list.

I realized that when the new US Presiden't staff was referring to coming to the White House like going from an "Xbox to an Atari". The generic name for a home console went from Atari to Nintendo to Playstation and now Xbox.

the white house can't be that bad. well at least they have the Combat and Space Invaders combo cartridge.

as for Live making the social list, that's great, so how come everyone on my friends list is such a * * * *. I'm kidding, give me a break, this hangover's a biotch. Never mix Carlsberg and vodka lime, never.
