DrunknMunky Veteran Posted January 31, 2009 Veteran Share Posted January 31, 2009 (edited) <removed>After a slight leakage earlier this week, Microsoft?s finally decided to pop the bubble shield of silence surrounding Halo 3?s Mythic map pack. IGN has the scoop. Map descriptions are as followSandbox ? Combines large-scale vehicular combat with a limitless amount of Forge customization. Boasting a tiered, open-world layout, ?Halo 3″ players will be able to build their own unique game experiences using the Forge map editor. Sandbox is a map unlike any Bungie has ever crAssemblymbly ? Set in the heart of a Covenant Scarab manufacturing facility. With two identical bases on either side of this medium-sized map, it?s a perfect environment for both Slayer and objective games like Capture the Flag anOrbital>Orbital ? A small asymmetrical map, is set in the docking station of the Quito Space Tether. One-sided games like One Flag, and One Bomb are sure to become quick fan-favorites, but the Slayer faithful will also find plenty of action on this bNow the bad news: If you?ve built up a great big grunty thirst that can only be slaked by the Mythic pack, and absolutely must own it on day one, you?ll have to toss your piggy bank at Halo Wars. at Halo Wars. Otherwise, you?ll be forced to wait until ?later this spring? when the maps hit Xbox Live Marketplace. The last time this happened, though, we got Crackdown, so we think we?ll take our chances with Halo Wars. How about you? Smashing Pumpkin
Sandbox: Two theories: Sandbox - Every single object you see there is removable, they're just building blocks. Mythic Map Pack - Despite being released exclusively with halo Wars Ltd, how can they sell the pack with a different game, surely it will be a case of including a scratchcard with the game. These codes will be straight up on eBay so if anyone wants Mythic Map pack but not Halo Wars Ltd it will be easy, probably just have to pay a lil more than usual. mail
how can they sell the pack with a different game, surely it will be a case of including a scratchcard with the game. Or they could include a downlad link in the game itself, I believe something similar was done for the halo3 beta.

Yup, I hope it's done like that. For the sole reason I can't be ****ed with typing in codes :p

It's the same as Foundry, but an outdoor version.

Trong
I wonder how it is a completely new and unique type of level then. Well what comes out of it is what counts. If you've seen any of the Foundry maps, you'll notice that they're much better than what Bungie has made but it's just a little cramped. The outdoor scene is just so that people can have more room to work with to express their creativity.

+Mystic MVC Posted February 2, 2009 MVC Share Posted February 2, 2009 Can somebody help explain something to me? I haven't read that much about this map pack but what is the big deal? Since it is just three maps why didn't they release this earlier? I guess everywhere I read I see how much its getting hyped up, but I just see it as another map pack. Absolutely correct, but Bungie are the Kings of PR, and with a game as big as Halo 3 people are bound to talk about it. If I'm correct I think they wanted to release it earlier but Halo Wars was delayed? I could be wrong.

They are also planning on releasing at least one or two more maps with Halo3: ODST, so I guess Bungie is just trying out a new method for releasing map packs. At least this way they are free in a way.

DrunknMunky Veteran Posted February 2, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted February 2, 2009 There will be at least another map pack bundled with Halo 3 ODST. His comment about them being "free" is because you are paying the normal price of a game (Halo 3 ODST), with DLC included at no extra charge (Halo 3 maps).
