DrunkenMaster
I don't have a lot of time for gaming, but I'm looking for a nice RTS or turn-based modern military game. I've had the most fun with the Jagged Alliance Series. I have also liked the (older) style of warefare in the Total War series (though, I'm sure my computer won't run the newer ones). I've tried to play the C&C games but the units and controls, IMO, suck. I'm not a huge RTSer anyways. I haven't really like Age of Empires. Company of Heroes is a blast but I end up having to cheat on the later levels. I've played some FPSes (COD4) but most are hardly somewhat realistic. My fav is Op Flashpoint. AARMA is seriously FSCK'd though.
9UnknownMen
I still play Rise of Nations and highly recommend it especially for the later modern/advanced age military units. The civilizations are also very rich and detailed.

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted February 4, 2009 Veteran Share Posted February 4, 2009 World in Conflict. Set in the 1980s, it's a military RTS based on a conflict between the US and Russia. The game is based on DirectX 10 so you'll need a fairly decent gaming computer to enjoy it at reasonable graphics settings. I'm talking a high end video card and quad core CPU. Tom Clancy's EndWar (PC). The game isn't out yet but like WiC, it's a military RTS based on a conflict between the US/EU and Russia. It's set in the near future (less than a decade from now). According to Gamespot, the release date is Feb. 24th 2009.
