Ji@nBing
 'd it. It started out a little slow, but I got totally sucked into it after a few levels. Really well written and it's a lot of fun to play. I really don't see how anyone couldn't like it.
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 10, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 10, 2009 lol. I don't really care, 100% of the time Zero-P, they always bash every game, to a humorous delight. So I was expecting them to nitpick and bash Ghostbusters anyway. To me, the game was really fun, I still play it. Pretty sure there are a ton of people who would agree with me. They even did Bash about Gears 2.. which I remember with the Chest high wallz. It's funny, but yet it's still bashing. Was kidding anyway, I knew it wouldn't put a dent in your love for it :p The game is awesome
Razorwing
Game is indeed awesome. I've played through the main story already 3 times. If you guys are up for it, we should play some multi. Just let me know when. :D
Argi
By the time this comes out in PAL regions I would've already forgotten about it. Le sigh.
Buio
By the time this comes out in PAL regions I would've already forgotten about it. Le sigh. Indeed. It also arrives about the same time as Modern Warfare 2.
Ayepecks
Played the demo and wasn't impressed. The voice acting and Ghostbsusters "feel" was top notch, but a strong license doesn't make a mediocre game any better, IMO. Maybe I have too high standards, though, being a gamer and massive Ghostbusters fan.
Unrealistic
I think you are being too critical. I understand that catching ghosts isn't for everyone, but there really isn't anyway to make the core game play any more desirable. Given the games context, I think they pulled it off and kept the atmosphere perfect. It's at the very least, worthy of a rental for the story. I was more engaged playing it than watching the movies. There's only so much you can do with Ghostbusters.
gigapixels Veteran Posted July 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 12, 2009 Yeah. The gameplay may not be for you but I don't think you can call the game mediocre in any way.
Ayepecks
Huh? The graphics are mediocre. The gameplay is mediocre. The only thing that I didn't find mediocre was the storyline and voice acting. I don't see how the game cannot be called mediocre, personally, but to each his own. If a game isn't that fun, I would describe it as "mediocre." Razorwing
well Ayepecks, as you said you are a massive GB fan, I still don't understand why you would be when you think 'Busting does NOT make you feel good. It makes you feel bland'. It's a dream for most of the HUGE GB fans to strap on an Unlicenced Nuclear Accelerator, to catch ghosts, being Paranormal Investigators and Eliminators. The graphics are pretty nice. I love it. From the detail on the Proton Pack, to the Proton stream itself, it looks very pretty. Especially pre-rendered scenes. It looks just incredible. It's just fun to catch ghosts in the game, I personally love it. But then, I am a HUGE Ghostbusters fanatic.. so we can't really compare. Yes I am Bias. lol. I don't see how the game cannot be called mediocre, personally, but to each his own.If a game isn't that fun, I would describe it as "mediocre." The graphics aren't really mediocre, besides the lack of AA and AF. It's a physics based engine, and clearly it is perfect for what you are doing (catching ghosts). Mediocrity is opinion anyway. If you don't enjoy looking for clues/artifacts and getting into the whole aspect of the Ghostbusters, I almost don't see how you can be a fan of the movies. Again, the concept is nothing to brag about and is no Gears of War, however it has similar styling/feel, even if there are no guns. I personally think it feels amazing to pick up a proton pack and team up against the ghosts to bring them in. It captures the essence of the movies, and if you fail to see that, then you're obviously missing the point of the game. You can argue lack of texture quality, but again, the focus are the characters/ghosts/proton pack. Also, the AI is quite awesome, especially within the team (unless of course you are Yahtzee)
Ayepecks
I'm sorry, but I don't like a game simply for a license. By that logic, fans of Harry Potter should love all the Harry Potter games because you get to practice magic. And, I too am a huge Ghostbusters fanatic. I've watched both movies probably 50 times or so, I loved the animated series (and the reboot), I was a Ghostbuster for many Halloweens, I still have plenty of the original toys -- I'm not just saying I'm a fan for no reason. The gameplay wasn't fun for me, plain and simple. Again, though, to each his own.
Unrealistic
The license isn't what makes the game. ;) This wasn't a rush-to-make-a-game-based-on-upcoming movie. They took the time to try to capture everything about Ghostbusters, but you are right, to each his own. I don't know what more you could honestly expect for them to do with this franchise though. Ayepecks
IMO: The license is what makes the game. If this wasn't a Ghostbusters game, and the game mechanics were the exact same, the reaction would be very different, I think. And, yes, they did take the time to capture what it is that makes Ghostbusters what it is. Never denied that. I expected that they'd make the gameplay mechanics more fun. That's my own personal opinion. (Y)

Icarus ^i^
Joystiq article The PS3 version of Ghostbusters was largely criticized for its inferior performance compared to the Xbox 360 version. Developer Terminal Reality told Joystiq, "The PS3 version ... is softer due to the 'quincunx' antialiasing filter and the fact we render at about 75% the resolution of the 360 version." 25% fewer pixels? Unacceptable!Atari is promising to redress the differences between the two platforms with a new patch for the PS3 version which is supposedly available right now. According to the Atari press release, the patch will offer an "increase in resolution to match that of Xbox 360" while offering "numerous other localization fixes." Additionally, the Trophies for the game have been fixed. A glitch ? caused when players from Europe and America played with each other ? prevented the "Pay Day" and "Capture All Most Wanted Ghosts" Trophies (and subsequently, the game's mandatory Platinum) from unlocking properly. If bustin' ghosts with your international pals makes you feel good, it might be time to fire up Ghostbusters again.
