Live Messenger + Firefox (weird bug)

Recommended Posts

I have both Firefox and Live Messenger 2009 pinned to the taskbar. Whenever I'm signed in with Live Messenger and have it minimized (either really just "minimized" or hidden using the close button) if I minimize Firefox, it pops out and restores itself, i.e. minimizing Firefox causes Live Messenger to pop out. I've reported it already, have tried moving things around, tried with other programs, but it's only minimizing Firefox that causes it. Does anyone else have this problem (or had this before) and are aware of how to fix it, if possible?

Thanks in advance.

Weirdest thing...I always minimize by clicking on the taskbar button. Just to test, I actually clicked on the minimize button now, and it didn't happen. Since then, clicking on the taskbar button doesn't cause it either.... Real weird.

No, they are not right next to each other. And as I mentioned in the first post, I did try moving them around in different positions, and it kept happening everytime.

Yep, having the problem here too, its really odd - no matter how I minimise Firefox it happens.

Also, does anyones taskbar start flashing when using IE or FF, at random occasions, and only stops when you minimise?

Its good to know I'm not alone :D Probably, its because of drivers? I use Onboard gfx (DG965RY chipset) from Intel

Are you using Messenger Live Plus addon. I had this issue in the previous version of that program.

The latest versions work correctly for me. I'm on XP.

Confirmed. Running:

Firefox 3.0.6 (it even happens on vista compatibility mode)

Windows Live Messenger 2009

Messenger Plus! 4.80

@ people who have confirmed it: anyone else running Plus! ?

The issue only affects Windows 7.

Does anybody know if this bug has been fixed yet, in later builds?

I installed build 7000 yesterday and I am getting this problem :/

The updated Live Essentials suite has fixed this bug i believe :)

I have the latest version of the Windows Live Essentials suite (the one where Messenger's build number ends in "206") and yet I am still getting this problem.

Does anybody else still have this problem in any version of Windows 7?

I've got 7048 and updated my messenger today and I don't have the problem any more.

It still exists in the RC. Keeps happening for me. Did enough people not report this thing...

And Teoh Han Hui...how did you determine it was a messenger issue and not a windows one (or firefox for that matter...)?
