Unto Darkness
A few days ago, I turned on my XBOX 360 and to my utter shock, it presented me with three red rings. To be perfectly honest, I never thought it was gonna quit on me ! I turned it off and turned it on again and surprisingly, everything was back to normal. It did seem rather fishy. So while moving some furniture around I discovered that my 360 RRODed again! I figured that it might have something to do with a loose power cord considering all the shifting. Turns out I was right and when I properly connected the power cord and everything was back to normal. So next time your 360 shows you the RROD, you might want to check the power cord. ;) EDIT: Shoot, I meant "a RROD".
Guyro
three red rings or 4 red rings? 3 red rings = death 4 red rings = power cord isnt plugged in properly
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted February 6, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted February 6, 2009 So next time your 360 shows you the RROD, you might want to check the power cord. ;)EDIT: Shoot, I meant "a RROD". That is why Microsoft ask to check the power cord when calling tech support. three red rings or 4 red rings?3 red rings = death 4 red rings = power cord isnt plugged in properly Very common mistake. People see red and scream 3RROD. I've seen it happen (not to me) where the red rings came up in a different pattern, and people cried they had also been struck by a failing console, when only 2 lights came up :/
madd-hatter
It doesn't die automatically. It will start 3 ringing more and more often until it doesn't stop anymore. No ones ever just blows after the first.

XIII
I got the first RROD about 3 month ago. About 1 month ago, it occurred again and the frequency becomes daily. I estimated that I got about 20 RROD before the console finally died.
