Browno
Well our house boiler went down late last night, but when i wasn't in, last night I was out and got cider in my Sony Ericsson W890i and I get an "Insert Sim" message. So as I thought when i would get home I would use the airing cupboard to dry my phone out, so I couldn't with no boiler. Is their any harm by using my Xbox 360 as a heat source, whilst not playing no games?
former1
You want to allow electronics to air dry, not near a heat source - as it speeds up evaporation which can leave traces of salt crystals behind (conductors)... Your best bet is to leave it near a well aired part of your house and leave it for 3-4 (maybe more) days.
Browno
Ok Thanks for that +M16Labs, just like near a window or something?
DrewJW
When I dropped my iPhone in the bath we wrapped it inside a pack of rice, wrapped in a towel and placed it on a warm ( not hot ) radiator for a few days. Worked great ever since.

spd21
Yep rice always works better than drying it with heat :)
Browno
Well I woke up this morning, i had left the phone on charge, and this morning it had 0% battery, so it turned it self off, i turned it back on and it gave me the Insert Sim Message again :@, back to the rice? D. S. Veteran Posted February 8, 2009 Veteran Share Posted February 8, 2009 Did you turn it off right after you spilled cider on it? You should have removed the battery and not turned it on until all the liquid was removed :/ Try using rice to soak up all the moisture and then turn it on. DanManIt
I'd say put it back in the rice
