does the difficulty increase on co-op? how does the co-op work anyway, you both build your own base? have no gold account to test it out myself unfortunately. :(

Basically the game is split in half. One base, one econ, but two people working with it. While at first it seems rather limited and annoying, once you get used to it the game becomes about coordinating with your team. Basically me and my bud ended up splitting jobs. He commanded troops and attacked while I managed econ, constructed new units and supported him the powers when needed. By the end of the game we had become an amazing team.

Am I the only person wishing the blue circle wasn't that small? As for the rest I don't really enjoy the game. It's fun for an hour or so but after that I really need something else. What a pity.

I'm definitely picking this up ASAP. Tax returns FTW.

I'm excited about that. I'm not the best when it comes to attack plans and such, but my friend is really good with that. I'm much better coordinating resource gathering and building up the base.

:D I just traded in Left4Dead and deadrising and got a extra 20% trade in credit... I used to work with the guy that sold it to me and gave me a little extra :)

It's a great game but it def. gets tough... Might change the difficulty...

Me and 2 buddies played some 3 on 3 against the computer on Heroic difficulty last night. It was an epic hour long battle and we managed to win. So fun. The game is really rewarding you when you work with your team, but it can punish you if you try to do everything yourself.

All I have to say is turtling FTW! Me and my friend destroyed the generic UNSC grzzly powerhouse strategy last night in our first 2v2 with a turtle/defense strategy. Five or so pushes of masses of scorpions and grzzlies and we were still alive. One push from my four vultures and I took out a player.

Vultures are very very easy to take out. Just wait till it happens, last night I did a 2v2 against some people online with my friend.

Had to play against prophet and one of the UNSC races. All that I know is the hornets/vulture combo got destroyed easily by many of my anti-air ideas. So far I've won about 60-70% of my games out of 12 or something like that. Skill level search = 13.

I know they are easy to kill, but their endurance isn't what makes them deadly. It is forgetting about them that does. Since I was using them as defensive units for the better part of 15 minutes, they didn't expect me to send them forward like that. I quickly took down their forward turrets, unleashed the barrage and the base was down in under 15 seconds.

  • 4 weeks later...

Im not playing this much anymore, the online got tedious after a while due to there being only a small selection of units and not very much variation in gameplay.

Been playing my friend's copy for the past few days. Going to pick mine up tommorow, so I'll own my own.

Loving the game and I loved the campaign. Felt like Halo: CE all over again. Something Halo 2/3 lacked. Only done one match MP wise and didn't have any clue what to do. Done all the skirmishes and campaign, so got a better grasp and plan on finishing out the SP/Co-op campaign here and to focus only on MP.

thanks for the comments and stuff, sounds like it's worth the time. Will be getting into it over the next few days. What really brought back memories is the opening screen and how it follows on the Halo 3 motifs - music, look, mood etc. I grew to appreciate H3 a lot over the last year and a half, so this was definitely a nice touch in my book.

yes indeed, that was a nice touch. I love all the little details that are so typical to the halo games, from the sound effects to little animations characters do and the flexibility of the warthogs for instance, I think if you haven't played any of the Halo games, half of the charm is gone..

right on remysaus. this is now my favorite RTS of the last few years and i officially like it. Twas the mission with the Rhinos and the shield that did it for me. Good thing the campaign is pretty long.

This game has just been collecting dust at my house. I've never really liked the genre too much, though Starcraft and C&C are pretty fun. I think I only played the first 3-4 missions before I got distracted, I need to get back into it. Is the co-op fun?

Co-op is the same exact missions. Your partner just builds whatever he/she wants and controls any units he/she makes and you work together to complete the missions. I like it quite a bit, but I feel they could have done a little bit more for it.

This game NEEDS dlc to survive. If anything I think they should make an expansion allowing you to do 2v2 in the same way as Co-Op works. The only thing that sucks is the possibility is almost nill since Ensemble is dead now.

New Add-on coming for Halo Wars

It?s called Historic Battles and it will be available July 21st for 800 points and it has four new maps and four new Achievements. Here is a breakdown of what Historic Battles for Halo Wars will contain:

* Barrens (1v1 Map): Difficult terrain channels units into killing zones. The side that controls the Forerunner artifacts will have the advantage.

* Blood River (1v1 Map): Secure base locations on nearby cliffs overlook this naturally red-tinged river. The soldiers that fought over its two narrow crossings gave the river its name, which has since taken on a greater meaning.

* Glacial Ravine (3v3 Map): A snow-topped mountain range forms a natural barrier that cuts this region in half. Control of the two energy walls at the narrow central pass often determines the outcome of the battle, though clever use of the Sentinel Factories may play a role as well.

* Memorial Basin (2v2 Map): The high ground in the middle offers good cover for infantry, while the generally open terrain transforms organized battle plans into bloodbaths.

The four new Achievements worth a total of 100 points are:

* Tour Coming Through: Hot drop 50 squads to your Covenant Leader in a single game on Memorial Basin (30 points)

* Never Leave a Man Behind: Finish a game with 5000 net resources contributed to your teammates on Memorial Basin (15 points)

* Drain Cleaner: Kill 20 enemy squads with a continuous Covenant Leader Power on Memorial Basin (30 points)

* Killjoy: Disrupt 5 active Leader Powers in a single game on Blood River (25 points)

I was hoping for some extra campaign missions. Barely touched the multiplayer so I won't be getting thi:(:( Shame really, because I really want to support the studio (or what's left of it anyway)
