i don't get it, it says the image has been moved or deleted then it has photobucket written underneath it

wouldn't it be photobucket censoring you? (not sure how exactly it works i havn't uploaded an image here yet )

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b243/TK-1913/Nobama.jpg

the link hasn't been altered its just been taken off photobucket and last i checked neowin doesn't own photobucket?

The missing photobucket images is just Gary7 doing the mature thing and taking his ball and going home.

Also, here's some interesting statistics on the posters involved in the Obama art thread (courtesy of The_Decryptor).

While I can't speak to the specifics here since I don't know what was actually deleted, I can tell you that some level of censorship is not inappropriate. I run a forum similar to Neowin and I don't have nearly as much tolerance as the staff here does. If anything is posted on my forum that is in any way potentially offensive to other members it is immediately deleted and the poster is warned. Now look, I'm not talking about one person being overly sensitive to something, but I am saying that there is a standard of social acceptance that should be followed. If it is obvious that certain words or pictures would clearly be viewed as offensive to a certain class, race or denomination of people then in my opinion it has no place on a forum such as this. There are other forums where such nonsense is not only tolerated but encouraged, and that's fine. But this is first and foremost a technical forum and there is no need to offend members. I also recognize that younger people think some things are funny that more mature individuals do not - that does not mean those younger members need to be pandered to. Again - this is obviously just my opinion.

Let's all remember something folks - even though this is a "public" forum, when all is said and done we are really only guests here. The host (owner) does have a right to set, maintain and enforce whatever rules of decorum he deems appropriate.

Gary7, it may not be fair or even have a valid reason in yours or our eyes but the fact that its been closed means just that. Its closed. If you start another I'm sure it also wont last too long.

If you don't want to support Neowin and its staff any longer then the only way to do that is to stop coming here, Asking for your Orange badge that you have paid for to be taken away is just childish.

The same thing that I am posting is and was being posted by a Global Moderator.

Neowin does not have a rule against political cartoons. There was no censorship. Nothing was deleted by Neowin.

1. Start a thread in RWI.

2. Post the cartoon.

3. Discuss the topic and how you personally feel about it.

I just don't want to see a constant stream of highly charged political images appear in the Jokes forum. I don't want to see politics escape RWI and leak into other sections of Neowin. We never allowed a Bush ART images thread and while we did allow some of this during the election, the election is now over.

[Thread Cleaned]

This thread was cleaned of irrelevant images and the assorted commentary that related to those images.

I was going to say something but with threads of extreme paranoia, big brother watching you etc..

I'm really not surprised to see this thread by reading its content...

Again i'm not sure exactly what was removed/censored but if he feels the community has done him wrong and he just doesn't want to show support anymore i think hes more then entitled to have that request fulfilled if he wishes so...as you said he did pay for it... :)

just my $0.02

With statistics like that, I think the humour level has long gone away months ago.

Censorship? More like stopping a runaway flamefest thread disguised as 'humour.'

It is not pointless. I want my subscription terminated. Is that hard for you people to follow? I am tired of supporting a Forum that uses censorship. I just want to become a regular type member. If you cannot do that then do not respond to this thread. I do not want my money back I just want the orange gone and the badge.

You've already supported the second you obtained the badge , if you don't like the site anymore just don't visit.

Someone must have found his posts offensive...

"Wow.. someone's a bigot.."

This post has been edited by -Hiroshi-: Today, 08:30

Some of Gary7's previous posts, sometime last year, targeting homosexuals were very offensive (along with a few other members). Even as a heterosexual man, I still found these offensive, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of his other posts were offensive.

they are a good laugh aren't they?

Not his previous homophobic posts. I don't call them "a laugh".

I don't want to steer off-topic, I am just saying...

At the end of the day, closing a thread full of hate pictures against President Obama, whether political satire or not, is not censorship. It's not like the thread was deleted.

I think you need to rethink your request, Gary7. Neowin is a fantastic community and you are sure to miss it if you ever leave or are banned.

Yes I know forget about this thread.

I think this can now be resolved by PM and I don't want to see any more bashing of the thread creator.

If any of you people know how, can you please terminate my subscription. I would not want anyone to know that I am supporting in any way a Forum that uses censorship against a certain group or discrimination! Please do this ASAP.

Thank you,

Gary7

You are not a group. Censoring is removing. Nothing of yours was removed.
