Steam Weekend Deal: 50% off Left 4 Dead

Recommended Posts

I did it, purchased and downloaded it before I went out with my wife for Valentines Day. :punk:

Hoping to play it a bit tomorrow. I might not be able to do so as have some stuff to do, but I definitely will play at some point during this upcoming week.

Oh and your avatar is awesome :D

Cool. Definitely thanks for that. I made it myself awhile back and since I once again have a gaming PC I figure it was okay to finally use.

It started out as a t-shirt design (that I still have and might make one day) and evolved into the gif. Anyone feel free to use it for whatever. Gonna make some desktops of it soon so will upload them or something.

Managed to get the dosh together to buy this. OMG what a game, fell off the roof on the first game as the helicopter arrived :(

Definitely going to be my new game of choice. If anyone wnts to add me, my Steam ID is BeLGaRaTh, not really hard to guess :p

We will definitely play sometime soon.

And I plan on adding more people still, and also feel free to add me anyone who has this game as well... DirtyLarry531

Man, I wish my tax refund had already came in; I'd jump on this. As it is, I just spent the last of my gaming budget on F.E.A.R. 2 (so far, a very worthy purchase). Ah well, I'm looking at getting Mass Effect for $20 on Steam when my refund comes in. Too bad its doubtful another L4D deal will come around soon. Ah well...

Congrats on your purchase. I tried adding you, but Steam says it can't find you. Can you try adding me: GrimReaperT30.

I have a quick question for you guys though. I want to buy this game for my brother before this deal is over also and he is using a laptop. I am running a GTX 280 so I know it is running fine for me, but on his Sony Vaio AR series he has a nVidia GeForce 7400 Go. Do you think he can run the game?

Sure, will add you later on tonight or tomorrow when I am back on my PC.

I am not sure why Steam keeps not being able to find me though? You are not the first person to say this. I have to check also to make sure I am giving the right info out. :iiam:

I believe names have to be entered properly, for example DirtyLarry531 or BeLGaRaTh which may be why people are having issues?

Can anyone answer the question that I asked in my previous post here?

I really want to know before the sale ends, thanks. :D

I just bought it earlier such an awesome deal.

I also think it's amazing that it can run on my laptop on low settings. I didn't think it'd be able to run at all.

Best bet is to use your account on his laptop, install the game and see. It is hard to gauge on laptops unfirtunately :( Or maybe Cha0sDragon14 can advise his laptop specs and compare? :)

Alright, I did not know that you can install the game on more than one computer. :p

I am going to test it and if it works I will be buying another one. Thank you. :D

Yes you can, I used to have Steam installed at home and at work, as long as you do not log into the account more than once at the same time you are fine (the only other exception is the limited install games, but they are few and far between on steam currently)

To save time downloading you may be able to copy the game files from "c:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead" from your Pc to his and login with your account, but I do not know if that will work.

My notebook has a GeForce Go 7400 and it runs alright on it. Sure you have to lower a bit of the settings but overall it runs fine, I played the demo some time ago and I still play TF2 on it.

I'm going to be getting L4D as soon as I receive my wages (Y) .

Let me try adding you. Perhaps people are adding others by friends name instead of Steam account name?

EDIT: WORKAROUND: Anyone that has problems trying to add DL, go to his Steam Community page instead, and click Add to friends list. http://steamcommunity.com/id/DirtyLarry531

Not to discourage you, but the game was pretty laggy on medium CPU and low graphics settings at 800x600 on my laptop, also with a Go 7400. In a hallway the performance is fine, but the first minute the horde comes in things start bogging down. Of course I'm used to my desktop so it could just be me thinking a FPS counter of 30s and lower is crap. ;)

Unfortunately that notebook is all I got, so I can't play it on anything else :p . So far though, it plays TF2 at 800x600 on medium settings just fine and NFS:Undercover runs quite alright. L4D should run alright at low settings and it will be enough for me, unless of course you willing to sponsor me a new computer, of which I would humbly appreciate  !

On a serious note, I would like to build at least a moderate gaming desktop but with the current economic situation as it is now, every bit save will help me in the long run. Until the time comes when I can afford one without disrupting anything else in terms of bills and expenses, I'll be happy chugging along with my notebook until it breaks down :D .

Also, custom drivers works wonders ;) .

I've had this laptop blow its GPU twice thanks to overheating... so I try not to game too much on it. :p

You'll probably get slightly better performance as I'm currently running Win7 on this laptop. Gaming in XP may be better for these GPUs.

This is my second notebook actually, the first kept overheating whenever I play a game for a few minutes causing the notebook to shutdown by itself. After a few trips to the service centre, they stated the problem was due to dust near the fan which was idiotic to say the least. Even though there was a bit of dust near the vent, my house isn't a construction site and when I'm outside, I don't open it at the side of the road. I argued with them a number of times but in the end they relented and gave me a new notebook. Haven't had a problem with it since, posting from it right now in the office, even though I've got a RM10,000 Mac Pro beside me just idling by  !

Windows XP on this notebook as I like my themes :D .

Alright, I tried it on the notebook, but it freezes on the start screen. The first time I loaded it it worked when I went into the options and I checked everything was already on low and medium and it froze there. Now, when it just loads the home screen it freezes and there is no way to get back to Windows. Is there any way to fix this?
