Yes and no. If you already have a solid foundation in programming and master the basics, go for it and practice it. If it's your first OOP language, it's better to follow a good book. 0 MrA
That book is expensive Its also a really good book and well worth the money. But it's not a good book to learn from, it's more of a reference. BTW: That link is for the hardback version, but there's also a paperback available. 0 Laurë Veteran Posted February 14, 2009 Veteran Share Posted February 14, 2009 Moved here. Its also a really good book and well worth the money. But it's not a good book to learn from, it's more of a reference.BTW: That link is for the hardback version, but there's also a paperback available. Hardbacks are usually hideously more expensive, but they do stay in good shape for much longer.. well forever if you treat them right.

0 Bazenga
Deitel & Deitel - C++ How to program. That's the book we took at the university and it's very good. However, it's *very* big; we're talking about 1200 pages roughly.

0 Xilo
Bjorne Stroustrup is awful at teaching. Good for reference and general knowledge. Teaching? No... His classes were so... boring.
