Gerowen
I was browsing the other day and found a copy of Far Cry for $10 so I picked it up, hadn't played it in a long time and don't have my original copy. It's the PC DVD, but upon trying to install it, I get an error telling me to run a 64 bit installer, which is not on the disc. Apparently this isn't an unknown issue, but I can't find any place to download a 64 bit installer. Here's my current setup: Windows Vista Home Premium x64 AMD Turion x2 64bit @ 2.1 Ghz per core 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM 256 MB ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics 250 GB HDD Does anybody know where I can get a 64 bit installer? I also heard there's an optimizer that allows you install it on a 32 bit machine, copy over the installation folder and then optimize it for 64 bit, anybody know where I can get that if there is no 64 bit installer available? Olemus
Welcome to the lamest example of forgetfulness in video games. Crytek forgot to add the x64 exe on some discs (mostly the cds, as opposed to the dvds). The only way to get this running is to do this: 1) Install FarCry x86 on a normal installation of Windows x86 2) Take the folder titled "Ubisoft" under x:\program files\ and back it up to something 3) Take that backup and paste a copy of it to x:\program files (x86)\ on your Windows x64 installation 4) Run the FarCry x64 patch http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=6934 5) Wait a considerably long amount of time for the patch to patch the game 6) Enjoy FarCry x64! Also I don't know if things have changed but you couldn't play online with x64 in the old days :(

Tech Star
You don't need an x64 installer to install 32-bit applications. That's what WOW64 is for. But I thought that if games were x64 they would be able to run better on an x64 system than running as a 32-BIT application. This same thing happened to me and I am going to run the patch, but my GTA4 is also 32-BIT and I don't think there is a x64 version.

I think this is something specific to Far Cry, the installer won't even run if you're using a 64 bit OS.
Xerxes
I think this is something specific to Far Cry, the installer won't even run if you're using a 64 bit OS. I dunno, I have the CD version of FarCry and I had no issues installing it on Vista x64, it just installed as it normally did. Then you can download the 64-bit patch and additional content to run it in 64-bit mode. However, FarCry does have issues in general running in 64-bit mode on Vista x64 (as it was designed for XP Pro x64) I actually gave up in the end and just run the 32-bit version :p
ScorpioRGc1
Anyone know if the 64-bit patch works with the Steam version of the game?
