Crackler
First I'll describe the setup and then the question. Setup: 1 cable line which feeds into a splitter (1 for cable modem and 1 for TV line). The TV line then goes into another room which feeds into another splitter (1 for a TV (non-HD) and 1 for the rest of the TV line). The rest of the TV line ends at another TV (HD). The TV at the end of the line seems to have problems at times picking up channels, etc. I was told that it is possible to check the signal strength of the line through the cable box when it is turned off. I checked and I was able to access a menu but didn't find the signal strength part of it. Anyone know if it's possible and if so how do I go about it? Or is there another way I can check it myself? PS: The "Power Level" being measured by the Surfboard cable modem is 41 dBmV which from what I was able to find online is a bit on the high end. rmorris003
splitters degrade the signal and you are only supposed to have 1 cable box per cable line from the box outside.
I am Reid
splitters degrade the signal and you are only supposed to have 1 cable box per cable line from the box outside. you can have more then one box, I dont know where you got that. As for his problem im pretty sure its just signal loss either due to cheap wire or spliters. You can buy an amplifier which should help, also make sure you have good quality spliter and cables because for something like this it really does matter.
