0 CaKeY
Depends how much you wanna spend. Photoshop if you have money. GIMP if you don't.

0 nacs
Paint Shop Pro is a more affordable solution. And there's a 30 day trial too so you don't have to stoop to pirating Photoshop. :)

0 [f]
Be smart and create your works in Illustrator, or another vector based program. Vector based files (your final output won't be vector, it'll be .jpg or .gif or whatever you decide) have a few characteristics that are useful for making your logo go farher in the long run. nearly infinite object (logo) size - from cufflink to billboard sized text manipulation is far supperior even to photoshops vector text file sizes are generally far less than half of a similar raster file (try working on 100Mb .psds [yes I have] and you'll see why thats important) this isn't to say photoshop or some other "photo editor" wouldnt do the trick, but you won't be leaving your options limited. but don't just listen to me...try all of the suggestions...see what works for you. 0 nacs
,Apr 20 2003, 02:59] Be smart and create your works in Illustrator, or another vector based program. Yes, that's a very good point. I usually make my logos in Macromedia Flash just because I prefer that application but you can also use Macromedia Freehand or even Paint Shop Pro (it supports vector and raster drawings). 0 djelal
,Apr 20 2003, 10:59] Be smart and create your works in Illustrator, or another vector based program. Must second that, using a vector based program is always best when compared to bitmap, esp. with logos and print media. Freehand is definitly the best tool for the job... 0 FlashMan
SWIFT 3D, PHOTOSHOP, PSP, ADOBE ILLISTRATOR... those are the programs I use to create logos and stuff for what I do.. the problem is it can add up to more then a couple hundered dollars so you have to be serious about it or have a very good job in the coputer world.. but luckily people in the computer world make alot of money so you should be alright in being able to afford it. They really are great programs \
0 [f]
you mean more than a couple thousand LOL... the most important thing is to be creative, which you can do in MSpaint, if that's what you have...
0 bluerei
Or you could be just as smart and use raster programs as well. If it's for something that you dont have to resize much or requires more advanced effects, photoshop is even better than vector programs because there is a lot more you can do with raster progs. You just have to design in the size of what you are going to print in, but for web and video, you dont have to worry about that at all. Just design in the size that you had in mind.
