RROD Related Question

Recommended Posts

My xbox RROD'd about a week ago.

I sent it off to Germany, and it was received on Wed/Thur. However, I've just got an email from them which says that my xbox has been shipped back to me.

This sounds great (i.e. a much quicker turn around than the expected 2-3 weeks) but I'm just wondering whether it could mean that they weren't able to replicate the RROD, and so did nothing and just sent it straight back.

Thanks for any light you can shed :)

edit: I logged into Live, but it didn't say anything other than 'your console has been repaired/replaced and is being shipped back to you' or something of that ilk.

I doubt that they would send you it back untouched without telling you, maybe they have just repaired it quickly, or just given you a different console?

^I'm hoping that this is what they've done, but I've heard that some people have had unrepaired consoles shipped back to them because the repair centre wasn't able to replicate the RROD.

I heard that MS could check whether the console had ever RROD'd. I'm on my 2nd 360. When my original (Falcon) RROD'd, it was 8 months old. Returned it to GAME for a direct replacement. Didn't RROD every time. Was weird.

If that's true that's good news I guess, but I don't know where the log would be stored, seeing as I took the HDD out.

I'll phone them tomorrow to see if they have any info that isn't online, but I doubt that'll work.

I wouldn't worry too much. I think (anecdotally) the repair process has been generally pretty fast for a while now, ever since they cleared up much of what was causing the issue. They're probably just sending you a new box.

Another question for anyone that might know though, how much does it cost (in the US) to get an Xbox 360 repaired? I'm nearly positive that my AV port went bust so I'm probably going to have to send that in and I'm sure it's not under warranty.
