Image Sizing etc etc

Question

For my new site i will need to use an image as a header for a section but the section will be longer in length than the image is. Is there anyway to make the image longer without stretching it and pixelating it. I believe this is done on the default invision board them at the top but i may be wrong.

The image below is the image that i need to stretch

most sites will use 3 images for that, left cornor (not streached) right cornor (also not streached) then a center part which is usualy just 2 pixels wide, this is then streached accross between the 2.

have u looked at the source for that page?

the single image is broken down in to 4 left, right, center, bar

in the first coloum of the table u put the left image in the cell

in the second coloum u put nothing but have the bar/strip as the cell background,

in the third u put the middle image in the cell

in the fourth u have the same as the second

and in the final u have the right image in the cell

u make the 1st, 3rd and 5th cells fixed size

2nd and 4th varible width and set an overall width for the table.
