Old Hardware Help

Recommended Posts

I have a P90 system, running on a EPOX mobo, which I'm setting up as a server. I cannot get it to boot from the CD-ROM drive, which is strange because I've done it before.

I basically get a message saying: 1. Nec CD-ROM ...... and some wierd ASCII symbols afterwards. The CD I have in there works on another computer, is a normal ISO and is bootable. I've tried other bootable CDs to make sure and same thing.

I've installed an HDD on the Primary Master. The NEC 40x CD-ROM I've installed in it has been on Prim Sla, Sec Ma. & Sec Sl and I still get the same error. I've setup the BIOS to AUTO detect the Primary Master and Sec Master ( where the drive is now ) and the CDROM drive doesn't show up on 1st BIOS screen to check the drives nor on the list after. I only see it when it goes to check the CD or HDD for the bootloader.

Should I try an older CD-ROM drive or is there anything else that I should do?
