DrunknMunky Veteran Posted February 27, 2009 Veteran Share Posted February 27, 2009 Lost Planet $5, ?3.50 on Steam this weekend> By Patrick Garratt This is a bit silly. Lost Planet?s cut price on Steam this weekend, down to either $5 or ?3.50, depending where you are. Just buy it. You really might as well. At least then you?ll know what?s going on with the story when you finally get the play the scrotum-shrinking sequel.[/Source: VG247url] I smell an official topic coming on if Steam keep these deals coming every :pekend :p I've bought LP again, now I can haz GFWL(Y)i:Dt (Y) :D
Lingwo
Bargain! I got the 360 version but wouldn't mind playing through it with the mouse. Hopefully these weekend deals become a regular thing.
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted February 27, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted February 27, 2009 Yeah I bought the LE for the 360, but with the announcement of LP2 last week and the new weekend deal, hopefully MP is quite busy!

Smigit
Hopefully these weekend deals become a regular thing. They have been for AGESSSSSS. Maybe people just haven't posted them here every time? Sometimes it's just the indie games seeing a price drop.
PricklyPoo
Wasn't this game horribly optimized for pc?
raider360
I have this game. I've got it for free with my 8800GTS and I must say - I love it! Story and graphics is just amazing, and I love how did they bring the atmosphere of cold and snow into this game. The bottom line for me is just a poor online mode. Servers most of the time are just empty. Bad: a poor online mode. Servers most of the time are just empty. Wasn't this game horribly optimized for pc? I think it's actually not so bad. I remember playing it with mostly high settings on my C2D 2,66/4Gb/8800GTS 320 ;) Edited February 27, 2009 by raider360
Smigit
Wasn't this game horribly optimized for pc? at release yes. I'm going to download it and try it but. There were some patches that attempted to fix performance but we'll see. I have a 360 copy too but for $5 I'm unfussed.
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted February 28, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted February 28, 2009 Honestly, even if it sucks on PC, I'm just happy I have the GFWL client now
trag3dy
Eh. i just downloaded the trial and tried to play it, but its unplayable.doesnt seem like it was designed for the pc much because half the buttons/controls do not work properly. Maybe its just the trial? Example, the ESC button didnt work, nor would many of the controls defined int he settings. Such as using the mouse to scroll weapons. And when you got to a gun on the ground it'd say "press B to pick up" but be wouldnt do anything I had to push e to pick up the guns. many other controls didnt work as defined either. is this just a bug in the trial or ? Anyone know? Maybe the demo doesn't have all the patch updates applied to it? Honestly, even if it sucks on PC, I'm just happy I have the GFWL client now  GFWL client? Wassat??? Anyhow, I bought it, looks like a fun game. Can't pass up 5 dollar deals..I'm just waiting for Stalker: Clear Skies to be 75% off now.
StealMySoda
Looking at reviews, generally the views are BAD. Even at this cheap price, I won't be picking it up.
StealMySoda
I followed the metacritic link and read the first few. And that 66 just doesn't look nice xD I'll see if my Quidco money comes through on paypal before the deal ends (should be around 12? I think this month), THEN I'll think about it:pp
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted February 28, 2009 Veteran Share Posted February 28, 2009 Well I will say I never played the game on the PC, but I really did and still do think it is definitely one of the more overlooked games on the 360. The SP is actually really well done and keeps moving very well, and the MP was without a doubt a unique take on things. The controls take a decent amount of getting used to as they were also a bit different, but I remember it being one of the first really, really polished games visually for the 360. So while not a great game, definitely a good game.
Smigit
I don't know why they would release a broken demo that doesnt work properly to get people to wanna buy the full game to play it even more. Well you wouldn't intentionally. But the demo likely was done before the games PC release and may not have been touched since. They did have a number of patches for the game in order to fix issues and I assume theres a good chance these don't apply to the demo. I think it's pretty uncommon to patch demos, maybe betas if they need more feedback but probably not a demo (although there are exceptions). Maybe wait a day and see what people here have to say or alternatively look for any benchmarks done on a patched copy and see if the performance has indeed improved. Also if you have bought hardware in the 18 or so months since the PC release any performance issues may very well be a non issue.

Guest
What's the difference between the Colonies Edition and the usual one?
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted February 28, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted February 28, 2009 Lost Planet: Colonies is a gold edition version of Extreme Condition for the Xbox 360 and PC.[31] The game includes new multiplayer maps, a Human vs Akrid multiplayer mode, and a selection of new multiplayer characters and weapons.[32]Colonies also introduces four new single-player modes: Score Attack (points are given for each kill dependent on kill type and weapon used, akin to the co-op mode in Halo 3), Time Trial Battle Mode (similar to the Arcade mode of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare), first person shooter mode, and Unlimited Mode (which must be unlocked).[33] The game also includes cross-platform play between Xbox Live and Games for Windows - Live users.[34] The Colonies edition is not compatible with the original Lost Planet save games or multiplayer game, so players of each release may only play with others who have the same release.[35] The game was released in Japan on May 29, 2008;[34] in North America on May 27; and Europe on June 6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Planet#L...lanet:_Colonies
Lingwo
Mainly new multiplayer modes and characters and a few single player modes too. The big change in it is the cross platform play with 360 users. Edit: beaten!
Guest
Meh, I'd want the cross platform play :(
