xirtam
to those people who like it and who dont... can you give your reasons why? i am thinking, the folks who love it are those who dont play on flight sims and play the game as an arcade combat title, and those who dont are used to flight sims and are expecting this game to be more realistic? Im thinking the same thing, all i was looking for was a good arcade combat game and this is spot on, it plays exactly how i thought it would and i find it so much fun. Its not a flight Sim and i don't think it was ever meant to be, to be honest im really sick of Flight Sims, they feel too slow moving and serious for me at the moment. The only bad point i can think of is that its a bit on the short side as i had completed it just as i was really getting into it :( Then again the online play is really making up for that, the Coop adds more fun to replaying the missions and the Versus is just hectic mayhem and tons of fun. If i had been expecting a Flight Sim, i would have been really disappointed, but as i wasn't, im enjoying it immensely :)

xirtam
It's arcade yes, but you can execute some awesome maneuversCobra Maneuver Yeah that is cool. Stalling the plane on purpose is handy, i actually do it a lot to avoid missile lock or get the drop on an enemy or even for a quick dive to take out a ground target. lots of fun :)

Hell-In-A-Handbasket
i played the demo on 360, while it was fun, it proceded to lock up the 360 ( no red ring, just video/sound/controls just stoped ) because iv had various problems with every UBI title both PC/360, its good to know they haven't changed. ill be skipping this one, swore Vegas 2 would be the last
Digitalx
multiplayer (LAN or hamachi only i think) + all planes in demo. Just install this patch and play HAWX over Hamachi! Patch also adds more planes and weapons!1. Remove any previously installed mod files. This includes (but not limited to): DataDemoTDM.pak DataMenuPatch.pak DataDemoCompleteHCG.pak, DataDemoCompleteHCG2.pak Data\Menus2\mainmenu.lua, Data\Menus2\enable_all.lua Data\Menus2\default_planes.lua Data\Missions 2. Download DataDemoCompleteHCG3.zip and extract it to your HAWX demo directory. You do NOT need to unpack DataDemoCompleteHCG3.pak! 3. Rename inicache.bin to inicache.bak. If you skip this step then the mod will not work correctly!! 4. Enjoy. http://rapidshare.com/files/206190594/HAWX...MULTIPLAYER.zip Optional stuff Want to disable the intro movies? Go into your root directory, then to Data\Movies. Rename the following files (add an underscore after them, for example): Start.bik Attractmode.bik Clancyman_720p.bik d_geoeye.bik disclaimers.bik rating.bik Ubipresents.bik You can also remove the briefing video: brf_rio.bik None of this will mess with multiplayer as movies (as with seemingly virtually everything) are not checksummed. deletedxyz
I decided to just start this old thread since it's the most appropriate one. Despite the average reviews, I have to say that I'm enjoying the game. The cool "OFF" system and fun "shoot 'em" type of gameplay topped off with partnerships with Boeing and others make this game fun. The visuals are quite fantastic since the terrain is almost photo realistic.

deletedxyz
yeah I've replayed it 3 times, while never touched again Ace Combat 6 I really hope the next installment of Flight Simulator gets the same or even better photo realistic terrain. That would be groundbreaking.
carmatic
so how different is this game from that Altitude game? especially the parts where you view the plane from the side and stuff
deletedxyz
so how different is this game from that Altitude game? especially the parts where you view the plane from the side and stuff Are you seriously comparing with It might be based on the same fundamental gameplay mechanics of fly there, shoot this, finish mission but other than that, it's a VERY different experience. You might as well compare a 2d racing game of moving a dot around a predetermined track with Need for Speed: Shift or GriD.
