afoolstartle200
can I install a cpu with a higher hypertransport spec on a mobo's standard that is lower than it is required? Or should I buy a mobo's fsb that is higher than the cpu itself?
Breakthrough
I think Vista's setup only checks the RAM requirement, not CPU/FSB frequency; and even so, you can disable the RAM check with vLite.
Pc_Madness
Errm, I'm pretty sure you can install it, it just won't perform as fast. Usually the FSB is the same as the CPU that the motherboard is designed for though :s
Shaun N.
You see I would have thought yes untill I tried installing a E6650 which is 1300Mhz FSB into a motherboard with a 1066Mhz FSB, Wouldn't post/respond. Tried in a similar Motherboard and the same thing happend.
