san.W10
NFS Shift: Demo uncertain Need for Speed Shift goes into a different direction than most previous NFS games, which makes a demo quite indispensable, if you want to get an impression of the game before purchase. Unfortunately the following statement reached us from EA:In the last few weeks we've received a lot of messages and forum posts about a demo so we're currently looking into the feasibility of releasing a demo for SHIFT. We are committed to releasing the best Need for Speed game so we kept the entire team working on the game to make sure we release a really great experience. We're really proud of what the guys at SMS and Black Box have created and we can't wait to get the game in your hands. So basically it's not sure, whether or not a demo can be released before the launch date on September 15th (17th in Europe). As soon as we know more we let you know. http://www.nfsplanet.com/index2.php?lang=eng#5200 =========================== NFS Shift: Video Updates at Gametrailers The videoportal Gametrailers published 4 new movies of Need for Speed Shift! Two of them is a Career Walkthrough with Jesse Abeny, which show the career mode in the game. +Mystic MVC Posted September 7, 2009 MVC Share Posted September 7, 2009 I actually have to say I might be interested in this. I saw a trailer the other day on TV and it didn't look that bad. My interest in Dirt 2 has apparently carried over and got me interested in some other racers.
Spookie
Though I'm hyped for Forza 3, this does indeed, look nuts. The presentation is unrivaled so far.
san.W10
Need For Speed: Shift was originally ProStreet 2 Shift's Lead Designer tells us that the game was initially a direct sequel to ProStreet and that EA wanted cops.EA's upcoming 'realistic action racing' game Need For Speed: Shift initially started life as a direct sequel to 2007's Need For Speed: ProStreet. When asked by GamerZines whether Slightly Mad Studios had always intended for Shift to be a Need For Speed title, Lead Designer Andy Tudor replied: "Yeah. It (Shift) actually started out as ProStreet 2. "You'll see the obvious references, like we've got the Tokyo track in there, albeit a bit more mature; there's no balloons or anything like that. The thing with ProStreet was that they couldn't go straight from street racing to a track racer - that would have annoyed a few people. So it was really the first stage of the transition, mixing courses with the street stuff, and this is where they (EA) always wanted it to go. "We've had a few battles, you know, 'put cops in, put nitrous on everything', but we just said 'come on, let's do this properly, shall we?' And we did. Shift is the game we always wanted to make, just under a different name to how it started." Though Shift is Slightly Mad Studios' debut title, much of the team had previously worked on a series of racing simulation titles for PC, leading to speculation that Shift had originally started out as a sequel to those rather than a Need For Speed title. Unlike its arcade racing predecessors, Need For Speed: Shift focuses on simulation racing and features hugely impressive physics and a scaleable handling model to make it accessible to both hardcore and casual gamers. You can check out more on Need For Speed: Shift, including a variety of in-depth previews, by heading over to our Need For Speed: Shift blog at http://need-for-speed-shift.blogs.gamerzines.com. http://www.gamerzines.com/ps3/news/need-sp...rostreet-2.html

Tech Star
I might be getting this game. :D I hated Pro Street when I tried the PS2 demo at Fry's, but the previews look good for Shift. :D I just want to know if the cars will have damage like in Dirt 2, GT5, and Forza 3. Spookie
... Who? :| I can safely say I've only heard "Run With The Wolves" off that soundtrack. 23 and I already feel old. :(
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted September 11, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 11, 2009 I know quite a few of them, it's a pretty crap soundtrack though. Much better Prodigy songs on IMD to choose from, but at least it's not Omen.
DrunkenMaster
Here's a great idea for EA (I expect royalties on this if they implement it): Make a combo of this game and the previous with COPS! That's right, have a game where you drive around and race other racers across the city. When the cops start racing to catch you, you have to race 10 KM to a race track against the cop. After making it to the race track, whoever does 100 laps first wins! Oooohh and there has to be Rap music. Or Black Eye Peas and Lady Gaga. Spookie
Need for Speed Shift got 9/10 from IGN. :o :o :o Link I'm sure they'd be having a fireworks display outside of the devs office round about now. That's if the execs hadn't blew out all the fuses in one massive sigh of relief.
BoneyardBrew Member Posted September 11, 2009 Member Share Posted September 11, 2009 This looks really promising. This is the first Need For Speed game I am interested in since Most Wanted. I was really shocked to see the release date of the game is a mere 5 days away! I didn't really follow this game up until this point so this really shocked me. I was hoping they would release a demo but that is looking very unlikely now. I will probably pick it up if it happens to go on sale soon (also unlikely being it is a brand new game), or maybe for Christmas.
giantpotato
I can't wait for this to come out. The first PC game I ever bought was the original Need For Speed Special Edition. Does anybody know what's up with the PC version release in Canada? Futureshop and Best Buy have it listed as being released on the 22nd, and it's not even listed on amazon.ca . I don't want to wait an extra week.
MightyJordan
...
